The Sir Gareth Trophy, henceforth referred to as SGT because I'm lazy, will be a trophy that drifts between clubs. It will be transfered to any club that loses to the current holder. The loser will then become the holder.

The initial holder of the SGT will be whoever loses in the Charity Shield this year. After this, the SGT will stay with that team until they win a game against Premier League opposition. (In any official game League, FA Cup, League Cup, etc)

Once they beat a Premier League team, the SGT will pass to the loser. That team will then hold the trophy until they beat a Premier League opposition in an official game (not a friendly). So say United lose the Charity Shield, and then beat Everton in their next league game... Everton at that time would take the SGT off United's hands.

If a team holding the SGT get relegated, the SGT will be destroyed and the game will end. This could last more than one season (but most likely won't)

Here's where the game comes into it. You have to predict who will be holding the Trophy at the time it is destroyed. (Who will get relegated while being the holder of the SGT). You will get 10 points for guessing who will be holding the SGT when it is destroyed.

You have to make the guess before Sep 1st 2024 for it to count.

You can also earn 1 bonus point for predicting when the SGT will change hands (but will lose 1 point if you predict it will change hands and it doesn't).

So if you predict United will beat Everton (and the SGT passes to Everton) you will get one point.

If you don't predict any change you won't get any points.

If you predict United will beat Everton but they win or draw against Everton you will lose one point.

To predict it changing hands you have to predict before kick off.

There are no points to be earned by predicting the SGT won't change hands. Only when it will change hands.

If a cup game ends with a draw and goes to penalties. The loser of the penalty shootout will hold the SGT.

You do not have to predict the Charity Shield result because technically no one holds the trophy yet.

No one... Ok. I thought it would be fun to follow a trophy that follows the losers.

I think it’s a good twist on the regular prediction game. I’m in if it gets the popular vote to go ahead.

Not 100% sure what I’m predicting - I’m assuming it’s who is essentially going to lose the last game of the season

I guessed it's like thst thing about picking a team to win each week and those who miss are out.

    Start with city v utd

Picks city to win so utd are ****ing losers.

Predict who utd beat next and that side become massive losers.

predict if tjst side will win a game to pass the thing onto

    work through 38 separate matchweeks.

predict who will be the final.massive loser

    hope they are relegated.

Sounds like a massive amount of work to determine tjst man utd are a bunch of lovers tbh

unless i'm losing the plot this seems like just pick a random team and then wait to see if they are the SGT when the first team gets relegated so ion effect nothing happens for 7 months.
    Doesn't sound very gripping tbh

If a good team just happens to lose to the holders it could be interesting. And I use the word 'interesting' very loosely...
