I suspect that the building companies already have their projects lined up for the next 4 to 5 years and that they'll have no spare capacity or the workforce to increase the number of houses built any time soon...... this would apply equally to a tory or a labour government so be prepared to be disappointed.... it ain't happening any time soon.....
Look how fast they get working when told the parcels of land they have been sitting on for years will be taken away from them. And I might have mentioned the 261,000 homes that are sitting empty, no planning permissions required.
The empty properties should be subject to CPO's from local councils, but again we all know how long that takes..... there's also a question of the councils having the will power to actually do that.....
I suspect that you are right - the limiting factor could well be the lack of a workforce, both numbers and skills, although the finance could well be available, everything else being equal: https://www.bsa.org.uk/media-centre...rking-with-the-government-to-help-more-people
Answer- immigration, encouraged by good wages. Might even encourage some locals to get trained in the appropriate skills.
The answer is good wages for nationals. If the UK needs limited immigration thereafter, that can be looked at on a case by case basis
It’s not a crime to squat in non residential buildings as long as you don’t damage them. It’s also not a crime to remain in a property that you have entered with the landlord’s permission, even if you have stoped paying rent.
In London they are frequently rented out, I have several friends living in office blocks. Totally legal and considerably cheaper rent. There are lots of cheap/quick options to provide housing. It's not all going to be built in nature reserves. I just wish it was council housing rather than privately owned, but something happening is better than nothing.
Farage has named his 'top team', seriously pissing off former deputy leader Ben Habib in the process..... 'I have long held concerns about the control of the party and the decision-making processes. I will reflect on all of this. The key for me is that Reform UK stays true to the promises made to the British people. The movement we have created does not belong to us, it belongs to the people. We are obliged and indebted to the British people.' Reform UK is a company, not a party, and I think you'll find it belongs to Farage, mate. He's the majority shareholder. Farage also named 30p Lee as Chief Whip
Where's your evidence re Reform or have you made it up to fit your agenda? Reform is the old Brexit Party, registered with the Electoral Commission. Farage actually retired from politics and took up presenting tv programmes and journalism. Tice took Reform over and, apparently, has pumped quite of his own money in. Farage took over the position of leader when he returned to politics before the 2024 GE.
Why Nigel Farage’s Reform is a company and not a party - and what that means (msn.com) Reform UK Party Limited was founded in November 2018 as an “entrepreneurial political start-up”. Mr Farage owns 53 per cent of the company.
https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/11694875 Farage is the only individual with ‘significant control’ according to Companies House. He holds 8 of the 15 shares in the company. And has done since it was established. In practical terms it means what he says goes within the company/party. It might have members but there are no processes where members shape policy or strategy. When Farage decided he would become leader it was simply his decision. No election or consultation.
It appears it was obscure to Goldie, was just providing the info. Or as the legal eagle likes to call it ‘evidence’. You’re right, not a secret, but most people can be forgiven for not knowing that Reform UK Party Ltd is not quite the same as other parties. It will never see the infighting, factions etc that plague its competitors because it is essentially owner operated. I wonder how that works in practice? I guess the 4 other Reform MPs are in a sense Nige’s employees, but they are paid for (like Nige’s €10k a month MEP pension which he can pick up in a couple of years) by the taxpayer.
