Good Morning. It's Thursday 11th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Silence is deafening

In less than a months time the new Championship season kicks-off, and despite being more than a third of the way through the Summer transfer window, all remain quiet on the transfer front!

The signing of Joe Rodon was a massive coup, particularly as he was being chased by several top flight clubs, but, if Leeds are going to achieve automatic promotion, they'll need some serious strengthening.

Past experience tells us that leaving signings to the last minute never ends well, but here we are, 30 days before the visit of Portsmouth, and there are glaring gaps which must be filled if the Whites are to get off to a better start than they did this time last year.

    O'Hare not a priority signing

Callum O'Hare is not a priority signing for Leeds, according to Graham Symth, the Chief Football Writer for the Yorkshire Evening Post.

OHare, 26, is a free agent after seeing out his contract at Coventry City. His battling performances, and scoring ability (10 goals in 21 starts last season) make him a strong contender for a Leeds midfield with only one league goal during their 23/24 campaign.

Midfielders Ilea Gruev and Glen Kamara have both been strongly linked with moves away from Elland Road this Summer, yet according to Smyth, there are no imminent signs that he will become a Leeds player anytime soon.

Their lack of urgency have prompted Sheffield Utd to join the race, with one media outlet quoting as their headline 'O'Hare's free agent status and Leeds United's lack of urgency in pursuing him could benefit Sheffield United in the transfer market'.

According to Smyth: “I would still love to see a number 10 come in,” At the minute I don’t get the feeling that it’s going to be O’Hare because we’re told there’s nothing imminent right now with him from Leeds, and I don’t get the feeling they’re chasing that one as an urgent priority.”

Leeds odds on favourites to top Championship

Leeds are outright favourites to top the Championship next season, and return to the Premier League, according to Bet365.

The betting giants place Leeds 7/2 favourites to go up as Champions, ahead of Burnley 8/1, Luton 10/1 and Boro 14/1. Coventry City, West Brom, Norwich and Sheffield Utd are all 16/1 outsiders.

Morning all. While some see the 49ers way of doing business refreshing, no leaks re signings, departures etc. Im not sure if the attitude isn't a bit disrespectful towards loyal fans. The marketing continues unabated, new memberships made available in last few days and usual varieties of rip off jerseys and training kits. Surely it wouldn't hurt the powers that be to say for eg we are currently in the market for two or three players to strengthen and deals are being worked on. Just think the bond between the club and the fans is being eroded season by season. Maybe its a yank way of running a club but not mad about it

Morning all, as things stand right now at this moment in time we are stronger than last season:

The likes of Cooper, Drameh, Greenwood, Ayling, Llorente, Roca and Harrison either never featured last season or they were third choice.

We have only lost Archie from the first team.

Coming back from loan are Aaronson, Wober and Kristensen, we even have Rodon who has returned.

Yes I expect some will leave but as long as we replace those that do with decent signings we need not worry just yet.

We also had two failed loans last season in Anthony and Spence, hopefully we will get that right this time and with Rodon signed we could get an extra loan if needed.

    Mesler
    Kristensen/Byram
    Rodon/Stuijk
    Wober/Struijk
    Firpo/Byram
    Ampadu
    Kamara/Gruev
    James/Gnonto
    Rutter/Piroe/Aaronson
    Bamford/Joseph
    Summerville

Obvious weakness is the fullback positions but no different to last season and we can use the loan system.

Easy to panic of outward rumours and ignore those rumoured to be joining but if the season started this weekend that's our first team squad

Morning all. It might be quiet as perhaps we’re not going to see as many leave as is being reported. Someone else previously posted reported interest is not the same as definite transfer.

Eire, I don’t mind that the club does its work quietly, I like it when we bring in a signing no click bait site has supposedly unearthed. Say like Gruev, last season, who I don’t remember any of those sites mentioning last season. My main concern, is whether they’re good enough and do they get it, being Leeds.

Having said all that it’d be nice to get the kind of general dialogue that stuff is happening (without identifying positions or players directly)

There have been too many times where a target has been mentioned or leaked and a team in a stronger position has snatched them from us. I'm okay with us keeping things quiet, Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton will all be looking to do business, Hull will have money to burn with those rumoured to be leaving, there are a lot of us shopping on the same shelf

Im not talking of mentioning targets at all. Im talking about a simple statement saying we are active in the market and will hopefully have announcements in coming weeks. That'd be enough and would show a modicum of respect for the fans they are trying to fleece daily. For example many dozens of our supporters group have renewed memberships in last few days. A right few quid. Like I said, probably the yankee approach and as nobody else minds I certainly wont be losing sleep

We have sold five players, we have signed two players, we have agreed four loan exits, do they really need to say we are active in the market. Do you genuinely doubt no more will be inward bound

I hope you're not classing that third rate keeper as a signing. He's a squad filler. Of course there will be incomings because as we stand were weaker than last season with Archie gone. Byram and Bamford a year older. Wont get much from them and seeing Bamford out the door would certainly signal intent to improve the squad. Hell, Im only killing time till there's footie to watch again

We'll have to agree to disagree, the amount of times fans were moaning Archie is no RB and when he was in midfield he was never stand out. Yes I believe he will be a great player but this season, Rodon will be more useful in the team than Archie would have been. Until the club sort out Arronson, Wober and Kristensen, they are our players and they have a combined value in excess of £20m

Lets look at the possibility of Wober or even Struijk starting at CB, Ampadu will be in midfield. Rutter, Summerville and James leading the front line.

That leaves two spots in midfield/attack
Gnonto, Aaronson, Joseph, Piroe, Bamford, Gruev, Kamara - Which two would you pick and would it have been given that Archie would have started ahead of them

I think we’re pretty weak in the fullback area. Kristensen may stay as it appears no one wants him but is he good enough to start. Firpo is the only natural left back but in reality he seems to be a better winger than defender and can be injury prone. Byram seems to cover both left and right back but you know he will miss a chunk of the season. We had to use a rookie midfielder at RB last season and we’ve just sold him. I can’t believe these areas weren’t addressed as a priority.

They (the 49ers) bought it back in September last year. I think all they have done is to transfer the lease from a third party (Elland Road Ltd) to the official club (which obviously they own too?).

I’m guessing that adds value to the club should the 49rs decide to sell to RB.

We screwed up with Spence and it was a very strange decision to allow Ayling and Drameh to leave, on the run in we needed an Ayling screaming at everyone

I’m hoping we manage a strong loan or permanent signing in one of the positions, if nobody wants Kristensen we’ll have him and Firpo with Byram, not ideal but one more recognised full back than last season

It means the club and ER are connected.

Remember when Radz was trying to use ER as a down payment on his purchase of Sampdoria? That won't happen again.

I get that and it’s a good thing but my point was more, if you’re buying (or selling) the club and a 3rd party outside of your control owns the ground then would that not affect the amount you are prepared to pay (or obtain) than if you were selling/buying the lot, lock, stock and two smoking barrels?

Nice to hear your enjoying sunny spain lads.
I am currently working through a stack of Victoria beer, 400 tinnies.
My daughter organised the graduation party for her final school year, 230 17/18 year-olds
Surprising that so many were left over, I wonder who advised her on the quantities to buy?
