Bollocks. Did you even listen to the interview? Why would he clearly make out that he prefers northerners to southerners when he plays for a southern club? If he has a problem with something he's too much of a cretin to not say it and it comes out

Haha I knew you weren't I was just surprised at the shortness of your comment, you normally provide us with a sound, reasoned thesis :emoticon-0105-wink:

I do believe a leopard can change it's spots, but I just think Joey has chanelled his anger verbally rather than physically in recent years, and I genuinely don't think he's a nice person, just that he's making better use of PR. Based on only the facts that we know, I believe that Joey brought his departure from the club on himself - he was offered a contract that he faffed about with then rejected (or maybe it was withdrawn, either way doesn't matter), then he starting spouting off about the board on twitter. You just don't do that with your employer, it's career suicide, especially when you have his history, and he's lucky someone else (QPR) took him on with his history. Ashley isn't stupid and it goes without saying that he loves his money, so for him to let JB go on a free he must have been causing a lot of bother within the team/club.

Pretty much TBH. I think saying that was the right thing to do, but it doesn't mean he has really changed, just that he's more concerned about PR and a bit more aware of what he can do with the media.

C'mon Pouch, just look back through the guys tweets. He's an obnoxious little crettin who delights in attention and stirring. There's no doubt in my mind that if he used this forum he would be another DMW

    This sounds fair.

    Mate, seriously?

If you read my posts then you'll realise that no, i didn't. Furthermore, I don't need to! (and can't because I'm at work )

You remember DMWs posts, he would try to say something reasonable or even nice before he then went on to to stir crap. Joey is doing the same, he has been doing that for a while. He's playing you mate and you're defending him heavily. Not having a go, just want you to see :)

I think he does like a bit of a stir and as I say I wouldn't choose him as a friend. He's a bit of a tit, truth be told. But I do think he is very honest and I don't think he is into PR as much as people would have you believe. He is just a very opinionated guy who should have never been shown Twitter. I think he lacks a bit of tact at times, and at others I think that's deliberate. But I do think he is one of those characters that people struggle with because he is brutally honest. I'd imagine when kept in check like under Hughton/Pardew, that is a very effective tool in a dressing room.

I take all the stuff about what happened at Newcastle, with a pinch of salt. I think he has a lot more credibility than our owners, but I realised a long time ago that none of us mere mortals understand or know what goes on in a football club. They're all as bad as each other for putting a spin on things.

He's not playing me! I think he can be a bit of a cretin honestly. It's as much his fault as the club's that he left but I do think he speaks his mind, simply because he's too thick not too. He might be misguided (if only by himself!) and he definitely loves the attention too but one thing I would defend him on is the fact he genuinely believes what he says <ok>

Soz about the aggression of the last post by the way <sheepishlook>

For me, the perfect word to describe Joey Barton would be 'ringpiece'.

I'd argue that the player committee at Chelsea hasn't benefitted the club at all since Mourinho's departure though, they seem to be going backwards. Too much player power at Chelsea with the likes of Terry, Drogba and Ashley Cole imo

Well I understand what your saying but think about it. NUFC IS A BUSINESS and thus it has to be ran like one.

Getting the players to sign a bonus sheet is not unsusual, the players (godlike figures they believe and above being told what to do) are employees of the club and thus SHOULD be treated like that.

Sending harps on loan is more likely an opportunity to get him match fit and I am certain there is a recall clause in. Remember Krul has been the premierships outstanding keeper so Harps would have been warming the bench.

Smith in the Reserves I dont agree with but there may be a reason for this. Smiths career is finished at the top level. It is quite possible Smith is there to learn how to coach the kids in the future (speculative but possible).

Three keys players sold AND REPLACED WITH BETTER ONES without the arrogance and crap that they bring. Nolans doing well at WH but lets be honest Cabaye is a better player in every department. Joey is just a royal pain in the arse wherever he has played and the baggage you get along with it is bull. Carroll......... 35 MILLION POUNDS. NO ONE WOULD SAY NO TO THAT!

As for Bartons wage cut......he was on stupid money anyways and he knew that, added to the fact that hes a liability.

    JEEZ.......

Get a grip, we all know that Ashley is a c**t but at the same time hes making our club financially stable and THATS a good thing for us.

    peace!

Obviously it only works if its kept in check as it was with Mourinho. Same with Hughton, he managed it very well. To be honest I don't think you could crib those guys long term effect at Chelsea. They've basically had them at the top of the English game for near on 10 years. Now they have the age old problem of replacement and rejuvenation of a squad, something Chelsea are finding difficult. Nothing to do with player power really, just a changing of the guard. Its easy for Man U because the same guy does it every time and knows exactly what he needs. At Chelski Roman keeps changing the manager which is fine while that nucleus is still at the top of their game, but not so when their levels dip as Drogba, Lampard and Terrys have. (Ashley Cole is still possibly the worlds best left back so I won't knock him) Now they need wholesale change and the handover will take time because they've haven't done much of from within.
