So who are these clubs that have got all their transfer dealings completed and powering away with preseason training of their settled squads? Lots of speculation and accepting some others will go but at the moment, with the exception of Archie, the rest of last season’s first team is still here.
Hull City set to be weakened, Ipswich seem to want half their team. At the moment, Rodon was more important to us than Archie and we sold one and bought the other. We have Aaronson back, you could argue we’re possibly stronger. Premier League teams will be sorting their squads out, teams around Europe disrupted by the Euros, I don’t think we could have expected too much more before now. It seems like we’ve been concentrating on the likes of Roca, Llorente and possibly Wober. Interesting that the other day, Rodon said he prefers playing alongside Struijk, he likes Ampadu further forward. I’ve a feeling Wober will be the next sale.
whilst no doubt incomplete, number of transfers completed by clubs in the Championship as at 7 July 2024 according to transfermarkt.com. (There may be some errors as I may have included players promoted from u21 squads for some teams. Details have been corrected in post made 10 August 2024)
I think the argument can be made that we've got everybody sniffing round our players and it looks like we are just about and we've only signed Rodon as part of the deal for Archie. Let's face it we've got Marseilles looking at Meslier, PSG looking at Summerville, Palace want Gnonto, Girona want Strujk. Creswell is going to Toulouse, Rennes want Kamara and somebody will go in for Rutter again. Oh and let's remember that it's looking very likely that Bamford and Firpo will be gone then add that to the fact that Cooper and Drameh haven't accepted new contracts and Rasmus won't stay and we still need to replace Anthony and Roberts, we've got 22 players currently now let's deduct the above and we're left with a possible 11 players and the season starts in a month
That's good that everyone is sniffing around them as it means we must have some quality. It doesn't for a moment mean they will all be sold, Summerville has said he is happy to stay, it will be if the club wish to sell him or not. If we were going to base how many players we were going to have at the start on the season on click bait media links, then we would have in excess of 50 most seasons, Ryan Kent would have joined us at least 6 times
Think you missed Gruev, definitely seen his name mentioned before in regards to a move away. Plus if a good chunk of those do leave without replacements, what's to stop the likes of Piroe, James and Ampadu asking for a move. Farke upset them all last season, either by messing them around with positions and/or dropping them. I'd say enjoy the summer, but the weather is as unsettled as our club.
Bamford.. drameh.. Cooper and firpo are not going to be missed. Add Gelhardt to the list as, well. Meslier can go as well.
Exactly, the trouble with the fans on Twitter is they want it both ways. Some are saying that Rodon isn’t really a new signing as he was here all last season with no hint of irony that they are naming Roca and Llorente as departing despite them not being here all last year. Realistically no club knows their final squad until the transfer window shuts and that happens weeks after the start of the season.
Anybody want Alex Cairns back as he's set to rejoin from Salford. I'm assuming he'll be that experienced 3rd choice keeper who never gets a game.
Direct replacement for Klaesson. One thing that alot of people are missing is that he counts as "home grown". Clever move imo.
He actually counts as club grown, so we presently have 3 club grown players of which one (or any player aged 21 or under) must be named in the match day squad for league games
