To be fair he never said he wasn't playing due to the language just that it was taking longer to get his ideas across, he came injured as well, tutierov was already signed the previous year
The way RLB spoke about learning what positions he wants the midfielders to play based on how they train I wouldn't be surprised if we don't sign a midfielder or any players for that matter till after the Spain trip
We signed Tuterov in the April and Rusyn in the August. Tuterov doesn’t train with the first team so no idea how effective it is for him to be an interpreter? Even then we had Rusyn lined up awaiting his permit for months surely sending him on an intensive English course whilst his work permit was being sorted would’ve helped surely.
Shows you that he’s improving. Strikers are confidence players. We want to be signing one that’s just had a goalscoring season and 750k is nowt
I see both sides of the Langstaff debate. The lad has scored at an unprecedented rate these past 3 seasons and has so far made each step up. Its £750k, which isn't going to bankrupt any team at this level. However, it is another big step up, against better defenders and in some games where scoring chances might be at a premium. Whilst it looks like Millwall, he'd have been a really good punt for a top end League One side, like a Bolton for example. We will look elsewhere and I really hope this time we find the man to score us 15-20 goals!
I get that you could argue he’s improving, but he’s also going to be 28 this season which is generally thereabouts a “prime” age for a striker having never played above L2 level. We don’t know if he’s good enough as it is and he’s probably not going to get much better if at all. I’m not going to be getting my knickers in a twist with the club for sitting this one out we need to be aiming for much better.
Especially at Millwall, Pretty much my thoughts, if the club had took a gamble I wouldn't have minded but I really not bothered that we're not in for him. Millwall probably isn't the ideal move for the lad either, unless Harris is going to suddenly change his style of play.
If we are looking at that Norman Bassette who’s done nothing in Ligue 2 then I don’t have much hope haha
Have to get someone in who can hit the ground running and has scored goals at a decent level imo. Not really a position we can afford to take another massive risk on with youth after last seasons shambles in the striker department
Just need someone with goals behind them not really too bothered about age. As long as they are coming off a good goalscoring season
Tuterov signed 5-6 months before Rusyn and can speak English. If Mowbray did say that Rusyn wasn't playing because he couldn't speak English it's hardly the club's fault now is it? Rusyn was taking English lessons and had Tuterov helping him.
I don’t think 750k is bad value for Langstaff but he wouldn’t be someone I would want us to go for. We need someone who contributes more outside the box, running the channels and not just a finisher in the box. I’d like a younger option who we are confident can contribute as a permanent signing. Someone like Mubama , Jebbison etc This would also be the position one use the loan market to add some quality. A Tom Cannon type player who’s scored goals at this level or similar
Wasn’t there talk that Langstaff is a late bloomer due to poor attitude when he was younger, which he sorted? I also still hold out hope for Hemir. Benfica offered him a new deal for a reason.
I was against Langstaff coming here but for 750k it changes things a little bit, I still don't think he'll be less than half as prolific as he has been in L2, but I do agree he has very good strikers instincts, that said for 750k he could have a bad season and we'd still make that back next summer. Luis Hemir had 23 appearances and 0 goals, lets say we signed Langstaff for 750k and he plays 23 times without scoring, we'd still be able to shift him the summer after for 500k, it's a low risk, potentially high reward signing.
How well can Tuterov speak English? Enough to tutor someone? He’d been in the country a matter of months. I’d say that signing a player who speaks no English whatsoever and not having a proper interpreter to help is a bit daft, so yeah the blame lies with the club? Who else would be to blame? Rusyn for not spending 10 hours a night listening to Rosetta Stone? The fact Mowbray mentioned it several times and Rusyn also said he was struggling with the language is proof there’s clearly been an issue. Don’t have an aneurism as per though mate i’m not really having a dig at the club just saying it doesn’t seem like the wisest decision they’ve made and should’ve maybe taken steps to help the boy.
