Living locally it's hard not to see the local media coverage so you don't have to look very hard at all, its every where and for years in this area the HDM in particular and for a long time the BBC local radio station chose to promote RL over football, locally and nationally. Other areas don't do it. You don't get this in Leeds or Sheffield only in Hull. I'm with Citizen's on this. The local media shouldnt be playing the Euro's down and choosing not to mention them at all. They should be celebrating that Englands success on the football field is keeping many pubs in this region going and realise that the rest of the nation is rejoicing, not ignoring the national team.
Is every single local newspaper not the same ? Are they not there to represent local teams ? England in a tournament completely swamps the National media . Check BBC NEWS
As I said in another post, in addition to articles on Wednesday and United, the first page on the Sheffield Star had an article about the Copa America and 7 articles about the Euros. The HDM site is an insular, parochial joke.Seems like someone has convinced Reach that Hull is a rugby mad city when we all know there will have been far more in the pubs and clubs tonight than there will be for any rugby league tournament.
Kane was like Ronaldo. But even then there was a move late on when Ronaldo burst from the halfway line to follow up an attack whilst tonight when Bellingham broke free before being fouled in their half .Kane was still ambling up and in our half when he was fouled when he should have been in front of him.
Reading is not mandatory. Original Lambretta Man. What do you think is so good about Aluko and Carney?
Better performance. Not amazing but better. Good resilience to come back. Brilliant penalties. Really happy for Saka getting his penalty redemption and also for Southgate for the work he's done on penalties and getting us past that hoodoo. That's 3 shootout wins out of 4 under him and a lot of work has gone into that where previous managers ignored it thinking it was just a lottery that you can't control. Obviously the one defeat was in a final so the good record goes under the radar a bit. Three semis in four tournaments isn't half bad either. All my life I never knew England making the last four of a tournament (I was three in '96) and about 10 years ago it seemed like a dream for us to actually reach one. Now it's the norm for us like it used to be for Germany. We probably won't win the tournament but we should recognise that we are in a golden period of tournament success right now.
Not a lot. Normally try and time it so I catch the anthems and don’t have to listen to the pre match waffle. Not interested in them, or any of them, dissecting the game afterwards either. I would prefer an option just to have the crowd noise as I don’t need a commentator to tell me what is going on. We all manage at City games without, same as everyone who goes to games at any club.
Yes the football is boring but it has been a very good period of success and GS' role has been huge, right the way back from the 'England DNA' which was scoffed at at the time and the creation of St George's Park. He overhauled the 21s, got them playing a better style and then did the same with the seniors. I felt like he should've stepped down after the last WC, we feel like we've gone as far as we can under him but he's played a major part in the massive change behind English football.
