Nobody knows. Nobody knows if they've made a plan Nobody knows if they have the money Nobody knows if they are really assessing the squad first. What we do know is relying on others to mess up or be worse/as bad as they were is not a plan. Newcastle were hilariously bad last season. I don't expect them to get near top 4 again but who knows. Man utd will probably strengthen somewhat. Only time will tell bu how much if any. Spurs will improve a little. I don't expect them to learn how to defend through. Chelsea will eventually improve somewhat though signs are their madness is still going strong. That's just 4. Who knows what villa do. Who knows what a new West sham manager does. To just stand still v arsenal, city and these others means to go backwards. Finally we do know the balance of the side is off and has been off. We know salah is yet another year older and we know we have to improve defensively and in consistency of attack. I'm not sure the current squad can manage it tbh but there's plenty of reasons to hope maturing some of these players will be a huge jump all of its own. Bradley Quansah Elliott Jones Gravenberch Szoboszlai Just that list on its own should be learning, growing into being top pros who are ready to play.
You could argue that we've made what could turn out to be a positive (albeit, forced) change in the manager. Same squad, yes. But they could be revitalised playing for a new manager with fresh ideas and approach. Gakpo and Nunez could be like new players after their summer exploits too.
Hughes on transfers said - “expect a quiet July and a crescendo in August.” Unusual choice of words but sounds like there’s a plan.
"all" - no doubt some will turn quickly if he doesn't hit the ground running. I won't turn on him though; well, unless he turns out to be as bad as Woy but we already knew what we were getting with him. Slot is a bit of an unknown so I'll give him time to settle and implement.
Agreed. Different approach is needed. It's about structure around the manager as frankly I have said enjoy klopp but all bets are off after. We have moved to do some work in the structures only when klopp left. Long term these structures might be the biggest thing. Slot says two more coaching Staff arrivals to be announced so I'm interested to hear about that ASAP. They really look like they are not considering this preseason start as the real start with the kids. Anyway, we were stale imo. We never looked like holding a clean sheet so we will see what comes from the change as while it might be stale and over loyal maybe it's still world.class klopp. Slot has to deliver now to get his team fit and he won't have long with them to do so. I do think job 1 is the defence and thst includes trent now. I think job 2 is midfield balance I think job 3 is the forward consistency. As of this summer gakpo lw, nunez 9 and diaz rw looks like the best form options. Poor jota never got a look in off Ronaldo despite being tje only man bar their lb to run forward and make a threat.
Killmans move from wolves to West Ham set to land Maidenhead a huge fee after they have a sell on clause - incredible for them.
Thiago has retired. Shame how last year went, on his day was one of the best midfielders to watch and we didn’t even get him at his very peak. His passing, the way he turned when getting the ball was a joy.
So he really was just not up to it anymore. Shame for him, but he can look back on a great career. Wish him all the best.
Adrian officially leaves LFC. Really nice message to the fans. Not even MITO can say bad word about that. I am making this video to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have given me during this beautiful and successful journey together. "In five years you have showed me so many things. That wearing the Liverpool shirt and defending the Liverpool badge should be added to the seven wonders of the world. "That 11 yards is nothing when it comes to winning a title. That London is really Anfield South. That the scouse accent is not difficult, it is for chosen and special people. That tradition has been protected. That YNWA is not just and anthem, it is a philosophy of life. "I will be grateful for you for life. Once a red always a red."
