So hopefully you now know it was about the threats, abuse and intimidatory tactics of The Muslim Vote. Don't accuse me of Islamophobia - that's what they call themselves, and their targets are Labour politicians. Jess Phillips felt it in spades in Birmingham, slashed car tyres etc. TMV say they're only getting started. I fear we have shipped Pakistani politics into our system. This isn't the approach to democracy we're used to.
Labour took 9.7 million votes and got 412 seats. Reform took more than 4 million votes and got 5 seats. LibDems got 1/2 million less votes than Reform and got 71 seats First Past The Post
Jeez. Give the guy a chance . It's one day. If it hasn't been solved in 14 years then come back and make that point.
It’s possible to be positive about immigration and condemn the tactics, if they can be called that of The Muslim Vote and certain candidates, the worst of whom lost but the Blackburn bloke in particular isn’t fit for the job. What is he going to do to help that dump? I don’t have much time for the proper orthodox element of the orthodox jewish community but they don’t encourage violence and intimidation other than being unable to drive their massive Volvos with their 27 kids in the back Sunday-Friday. These are blokes who have seen an opportunity and taken it. Their rhetoric and increasingly their actions are dangerous. For Jews in particular it’s not a lot different to how I imagine it was against the NF once upon a time. The tactics against Jess Phillips and Shabana Mahmood weren’t dissimilar although now we’ve got wet middle-class sandal nonces in nice parts of the country sympathising and turning a blind eye to the worst of it.
It was good enough for the Tories when it suited. I’d like there to be an adult discussion on a fairer electoral system. Not a cop-out referendum but clearly there’s a good argument for STV or something.
I based it on the Labour manifesto. But, you're right, the new government has to have time to get into their stride. Let's hope for the best.
True, and mostly it was the Lib Dem's that suffered. But the Tories and Labour are now seen as TCSA (two cheeks, same arse) and we're moving into an era of multiple parties. There needs to be a change.
Starmer has five years to put that nonsense to bed. Rwanda and the bold step of not making junior doctors some sort of evil left wing enemy are a solid start a day in. If the Tories go after Reform votes their job will be done for them.
EU member states are moving to using third party countries. What is Starmer replacing Rwanda with ( per manifesto) **** all. Are Labour going to pay junior doctors the 35% rise they're claiming? If not, the problem remains
If he replaces with Rwanda with literally nothing it’ll be an improvement. Nothing will ever be good enough for some people on immigration. Let’s give him a chance. Not having asylum seekers seeking asylum for months and months with the sole aim of winding up your own voters would be a start. 35% has never been a red line. They’ll realistically meet them halfway or something. The first radical step is actually talking to them rather than demonising them for no apparent reason. The Tories just gave up knowing it wouldn’t be their issue to deal with eventually like most things.
If Rwanda had no effect, why was the Ireland premiere complaining that illegals were fleeing UK for Ireland?
It may have had a very small effect. Feels like an awful lot of money to spend for any effect it did have and nobody constantly moaning stopped moaning. Just process applications and return people who are rejected even if that doesn’t stoke a culture war. It doesn’t need to be that hard.
How do you have a returns agreement with Iraq, Syria, Iran etc, where many of them come from? Once they're here, you can't get rid of them, even if they're criminal psychopaths
