Saw The Waterboys supporting U2 at the NEC in the 80's ... they were great ... apart from The Whole of the Moon (which I think was later) a big shout out to The Raggle Taggle Gypsy and my personal fave A Bang On The Ear ...
You'll know Lightning Bolt but don't let it put you off. I wouldn't recommend but if there's nothing good as an alternative he might be good.
Talking of festivals, have tickets to the Sunday at Tranlines in Sheffield. Only got the as Human League are on.
Did a weeks dive holiday there once, couldn't wait to leave, awful food, if you like grease and 2 day cooked rice that will give you the ****s,its bang on, awful people, they may smile and pretend to be your friend when they're trying to sell you something but they hate everyone bar themselves, bunch of ****s and to top it,the worst diving I'd ever done.
Saw both those at my first Glastonbury. Which was 1989! Still doing the rounds, they must be bloody ancient. Waterboys will be anyway. Not a fan of Jake Bugg really, seems to try to sing in a Manc acent when he's not from anywhere near there. He might be OK though. Some OK looking stuff today, Travis, Brand New Heavies, The Christians.
Saw the Christians at a festival, must be 20/25 years ago, they were decent. Weather was supposed to improve but still pissing it down.
It's like you're in my head. That's pretty much all the reasons I don't want to go there, Mrs luv has mentioned it as a holiday destination a few times but I really don't fancy it.
If they are staying with a family they'll probably have a great time and go to all the places tourists don't know about.
They're a localish band to us, Saw them many times in the early days, not seen them for a while though. My bro's band back in the day, did a couple of nights support on one of their tours
