Pete O’Rourke says Leeds United want to sign a central midfielder, a new winger and a right-back this summer in a triple swoop, well I say that just isn’t enough unless:……………….

A touch of reality may have to happen when it comes to the rats. If we have cash problems and PSR issues then we may end up using our own players rather than buy a RB, LB, LCB, RW, No10. Yes I know many fans will be fuming but it does make sense as well as some of these players being a lot better than the players we can afford to replace them with. Kristensen RB and RCB cover. Wober LCB cover and LB, Aaronson can play wing or No10 and should thrive in this league. £50m worth of players we own and won’t get what they’re worth and loaning them out again is pointless. Only my view though and will obviously get battered on here for mentioning it.

So Tin Hat time for me, but if I had a Porsche sat in my garage why would I go out and buy a Skoda and still own the Porsche and not use it. Should I let a mate have my Porsche for a year and then go out and spend cash on the Skoda? ok then why am I willing to punish myself, is it because the Porsche let me down last time out so I’m punishing it by spending more money on something not as good as what I already have?

And another thing, if we are the richest club in the league and one of the richest clubs in Europe why can’t our owners lend us a few quid until we sell a couple of players, so that we can buy some much needed players to rebuild this squad. The laon could be paid when Summerville goes or Gnonto, or even Meslier. We wouldn’t have had 3 weeks of the window being wasted?

I suspect doc part of the reason there is with us being an investment bank we are probably tightly regulated on who and how they can loan money to. Rich or not it’s not actually their cash. Just guessing here

Because under PSR rules designed to keep the ‘big’ clubs “big” we can’t, you can only spend according to income turnover, it’s why Newcastle haven’t / can’t despite having the richest owners in the world have to sell piayers to meet the rules and why Man City bent the rules and have legal action against the premier league. All designed to keep the European Super League six at the top of the castle with the drawbridge up. It’s a pretence that its to protect against bad owners as bury found out.

I remember reading The Fog when I was 14. As for the Rat Trilogy, first two were fine, wasn't impressed with Domain though.

However to get back to Doc's point, I have no problem with using whatever players we have to use.

Keeping with the car analogy, I'll drive the Porsche, but I ain't washing it every Sunday on the drive, and the first opportunity I have to replace it with a (insert your preferred supercar of choice here) then I'm taking it

Seems to be “fog”surrounding the list of names our 3 heros have been putting together for the last few months. Yes we know there were two lists one for the prem and one for the champs, yet. How can it be outside the rules for the owner to give the club a very short term cash injection that’s repaid in less than a week or fortnight at most, and why would the EFL know about it anyway. It’s a simple cash flow issue really, a payday loan that gets paid back the next pay day. We are wasting time as pre season is here and started and we need to get going. Or there is no list and just bluster, but having Rodon come in actually means he believes there is a list

Agree about Wober, & would be excited to have him back, as the Shermans would say. Rasmus, not so much, but would be acceptable at Championship level, I guess. Just as long as there are no speedy wingers in the league. Oh, wait a minute! An we don't have a say with the Lightweight. Decision already made on that one. That would still leave us looking for cover at FB. And that's before we have any other outgoings to replace.

Jock where we are right now we dont have any full backs as Firpo supposed to be going so Wober can do that with Byram as back up and Kristensen at RB again with Byram as back up until we actually bring in another full back who can play both sides. Kristensen spent most of his Roma time as a CB as well as RB but also played in midfield. These 3 are all full internationals. It’s not ideal but makes sound money sense.

I’m not disagreeing with you but the reality is they can’t otherwise clubs would have done so. The fog (I think) and the rats (definitely) I believe were both excellent James Herbert books. I might have misunderstood an earlier post <laugh>

I don’t believe for one minute cash is the issue. How much do you want them to “lend”? £100 million, £200 million? £500 million? If we don’t get promoted you do know you are advocating Ridsdale with bells on don’t you? Well, I hope you do because I thought you were smarter than that.

So far, we’ve bought one and sold one and cleared out some of the overrated dross, can’t see the big deal tbh, all looks pretty savvy to me :emoticon-0148-yes:

    Agree with that narco,
Until we know who will stay or go we cannot go out buying.
All we need is just a little patience.

Thought you would be smart enough to know what my question was asking. If we don’t have cash problems why have we not yet brought anyone in from “our list” after three weeks? We won’t be spending tens of millions so why no movement yet. Yes we know players will be moving out and we know some cash will be coming in so why no movement now? Looking at the depleted squad as it is we know for a fact we need defenders so why no movement yet, unless we are going to use some of the rats

    A) if we spend before selling, buying clubs know we need to sell. B) players leaving know we need to sell so their agents can dig in for the move they want. C) if sales fall through we are right back in it with the financial rules.

As it stands we have four full international players due back and we have an obligation to pay them so, whether they are “rats” or not, we aren’t in a position to replace them and make them sit on the bench to punish them because it satisfies someone’s spite.

By selling Archie we have bought ourselves some space to negotiate. Let’s say Wober is desperate not to play in the Championship, his agent now has to find him a transfer to a club willing to pay our valuation. That changes dramatically if our owners lend the club money and desperately need to sell. Buying on tick was a skill Ridsdale mastered and I for one would rather the current lot don’t see it as a smart way forward.

Wober will be the key to a few positions and he’s only just finished at the Euros.

If Farke is happy to have him back and he commits to the cause, we suddenly have a very strong CB pairing, if keeping Wober would we sell Struijk.

If keeping Wober do we sell Gruev or Kamara, how good is Aaronson going to be. Can we get rid of Kristensen or are we stuck. These loan returns will need paying, who remains and who moves on will impact our signings.

Let’s imagine for a moment we’d never heard of Aaronson or Wober and this season we signed them for £12m each, we’d all be excited saying we’ve added strength and depth

Last season I was angry, this season I ask myself, if my boss said take a 50% pay cut or go to our sister/rival company and earn more for 12 months I know what I’d do. Players rarely support the club they play for, some would take KP back, some will be the same about Archie and they’d be the same with Jack Clarke.

As a club we’ve shown no loyalty down the years, Ayling and Cooper most recently and most want Bamford out. Look at how we treated Dan James, loaning him out to anyone who’d take him, not good enough to help fight relegation but hey we’ll have you back now we’re down. If the rats want to return and improve us let them if Farke feels they’re the best we have or can get.

We’re supporters, the players are club employees

Way past caring whether the rats return or not personally. They’re all just employees. What did Archie do that was different to the rats except of who he was. It’s just a case of cheer on our latest crew whoever that may turn out to be
