It doesn’t have to, they aren’t going to have to form a government. If the Labour Party made unfounded proposals like Reform they’d never get away with it.

well a whole list of names to choose from but no reform !!! would maybe have voted for them? .. but studied the form and most candidates of bigger parties are from outside bristol ... like YEOVIL!!! SO VOTED FOR THE ONE "IN BRISTOL" .. City council is green now kicked out labour and the EGOIST IS NO MORE ...so maybe Bristol can return to being profitable and stop the cycle of re improving the reimprovements that the reimprovement was supposed to improve! and wasting near on £100 per annum of all council tax payers.

started to convert my savings and investments into gold sovereigns and Kruger rands 70 / 30 in value as when inflation hits 8 or 10 % in a year or so's time I want to have have some money put by for that rainy day ....

GETTING SOME TEE SHIRTS PRINTED! ....... " 2024 voted Labour .... thanks for the misery you caused" [ printed on a pair of flip flops on the shirt of course ....lol ]

Had a really good evening with my mates 3 mile walk on the mendips.. cool breeze odd bit of sun and refreshing pint in local pub with a couple of chese and onion rolls ... steady drive home and now the happyness will turn to saddness as we look forward to the disaster that is going to befall our children and grand children in the next few years...

One of our number [age 24 ] went eerily quiet after laughing at the fact will be a labour .gov with a monster majority and us old fogeys are concerned about paying a bit of tax ... it was explained what happened in the 60's and 70's early 80's when we had mortgages of 15-17% [ rent was on a par and inflation was never below 5% people are crying now because in these financially good times they have to pay 5% mortgage and 20p /40p tax ........well just wait and see what awaits you ........... and as the .gov now labour borrow more our world wide credir rating will drop from top of the pile to down it meaning it will cost more for the .gov to borrow more .... and the debt in a few years will be nothing like they left in 2010... but massively more .... he changed the subject .......

It’s about time that those complacent Tories got a good kicking. Party of low taxation my @rse. They’ve hit us with the Bedroom tax, the Pasty tax, the Tampax tax, increased corporation tax, frozen the income tax threshold (effectively an income tax rise) etc etc - we are more taxed now than ever I can remember.

Trouble is, I can’t see Labour as knights in shining armour either. People voted for Starmer more because they wanted rid of the Tories, rather than because they fell in love with Labour’s policies.
I don’t think things will get any better any time soon. Only time will tell.

Regardless of your politics the Tories has run out of steam. It’s a massive task the country is gone to the wall, I just hope they spend ages in opposition ruing their record, especially since that waster Johnson.

Lib Dem’s did well - despite their campaign being only videos of Ed Davey at a fairground <laugh>
Reform now have suffered the same problem as the Lib Dem’s have suffered for decades - they polled more actual VOTES than the LDs, but hardly got any seats. That’s the ‘first past the post’ electoral system for you.

So the die is set.. 5 years of misery? some key hand over figures!

Still have the next 2 months as carry over from the TORY .GOV interest rates [ trending down ] currently 5.25% but a narrow victory to stay at that DECREASE PROMISED for August
Still have the 3 monthly inflation assessment [ trending down ].................. currently at 2% ................. it was asked for by BOE and hit by TORY.GOV efforts from 11%

    The annual debt
    ................ 21 Jun 2024 ........................,UK government debt 2024 - Statista
This spending was financed by 1.02 trillion pounds of revenue raised, and £1.28 billion pounds of borrowing.
    from
27 Oct 2023 ... UK general government gross debt was £2,636.9 billion

    POLICE FORCE ....
    CIRCA 171 -172,000

NURSES in England ........................ 25 Jan 2024 ... NHS England data for November shows the number of nurses and midwives working in the NHS in England is now at 372,411 – the highest recorded ... has increased slightly to circa 372,700

    IMMIGRATION NUMBER TO 5/7/2024 ................
According to the Home Office, 29,437 people reached the UK in 2023 after crossing the English Channel in small boats. This compares with 45,774 in 2022.
In the first half of 2024, 12,646 [editted to July = 13,195] small boat arrivals were detected.

Last year, net migration - the number of people coming to the UK minus the number leaving - was 685,000. That represented a fall of 10% on the previous year.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE HANDOVER COMPARISONS THAT KS STATED WOULD IMPROVE .............and all FUNDED without additional borrowing or taxation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a massive job, but they can’t do any worse than the last lot. If nothing else I’m expecting a little less sleaze. Too large a majority can also be a hindrance, let’s hope not.

I’m hoping you’ll at least be objective and let’s see what happens.

I thought Penny Maudant and Robert Butland, who both lost their seats, were very fair, passionate in their beliefs, which I like, but fair in their summing up.

I know Buckland personally. Nice decent chap with a disabled daughter. Politically he frustrated the hell out of me; he abstained from commenting on anything controversial. He kept his head down and toed the party line absolutely. Licked any Tory leader’s arse whoever it was. Pointless MP.
I also know Heidi Alexander - not as well as Buckland. She is passionate and seems to have her head screwed on. I was impressed when I met her.
    Let’s see what she does……

very narrow minded Ashton .......... "as bad as the last lot!!!" .......... Most parties stated this GE is a vote for the future! BOE said a month ago problems from Covid/ energy / & Especially Liz truss were a thing of the past ... so from there on, Liz Truss era, it has been a massive improvement and the future on 20th of June looked very bright and sunny... so the .gov [ tory ] was doing very well .............

both victims of reform any by elections these 2 might be shoed in!

RB has done amazingly well for Swindon watch how Swindon might now contract

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Rachel Reeves has issued a damning assessment of the state of the UK’s finances. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The incoming chancellor of the exchequer said she was inheriting a depleted economy from the Conservatives that would create a “challenge” for the new Labour government.
“There’s not a huge amount of money there,” Ms Reeves told the BBC. “I know the scale of the challenge I inherit.”

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Well that is a turn up for the books RACHEAL <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
You have got some money in kitty ... just a few £bn's .. remember last time Labour was in power, or a SHORT MEMORY OR BLINKERS!!! ...........
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TORIES WERE LEFT A NOTE sorry no money left just a £trn or so of debt <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

OH by the way Rachael as you try spin it .... or should ewe say flip flop it ...............

Despite Ms Reeves’ comments, the economy improved in the run-up to the election, growing by 0.7% between January and March, which was slightly more than initially estimated.
The upward revision meant the UK was the fastest growing economy in the G7 group of nations in the first three months of this year.

    >>>>>>>>>>> SO
dont let us down and screw it up [ as Labour tend to do ] you need to improve 0.7% growth and keep us at top the G7 .... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

It is getting better... [ well worse actually ] .............

Throughout the election campaign, his party [ labour ] promised to divert £75m from the Rwanda policy to set up the Border Security Command.

The Conservatives dismissed the proposal, with then-Home Secretary James Cleverly telling the BBC Labour's border command would do exactly what the government's small boats operation was already doing.
He said by scrapping the Rwanda scheme Labour were "going to do less and somehow hope to achieve more". "That’s not credible," Mr Cleverly added.

Kevin Saunders, a former chief immigration officer for Border Force, also expressed concern about the government scrapping the Rwanda plan.
He told Times Radio the scheme had caused "unease in the camps in northern France". "They were very, very worried. And we saw people fleeing to the Republic of Ireland because they didn't want to be included in it," he said.

Is that the plan! ....to divert money from a cancelled project, [ Rwanda ] THAT IS ALREADY UP AND RUNNING and fully funded and put £75m in the kitty for other projects that wont have enough money to be funded ...maybe GBE!!!
