Rumours that Che might sign that new contract after all

 

Maybe his suitors are thin on the ground after the Euros!

 

Strongest rumour seemed to indicate he was off to Wolves but they’ve just spent £30m on another striker so might not want him now. Or he might not want to be second choice behind the new £30m guy.

We need a striker regardless if Adams re-signs. If Adams does re-sign then it just means someone like Mara can go out on loan and we have new striker/Adams/Stewart as forward options, presuming we are only playing 2 striker most games

I hope Adams does sign. We know he isn't a world beater that will bang in the goals in the PL. But we also know he has a great work rate, is rated by the coaching staff and is a low level prem player that is too good for the championship.

Plus, we would need to replace him if he left, so keeping him would allow us to spend big on one top striker, rather than spread it over two.

 

If we are definitely getting in a new first choice striker then I’m happy if he re-signs. I just think if he does he will be first choice (similar to the nosies about McCarthy) and we will sign someone like Domina as a developmental type to pad out the forwards.

Stewart is the wildcard in that we don’t have a clue how good he is as we haven’t seen him. He may have been another Billy Sharp to score goals to get us out of the Championship, but just didn’t get the chance because of injury.

I'd be shocked if we didn't add a first team striker. If they decide not to then they are gambling on Stewart making the step up. That would insane given he has just missed over an entire season.

 

We didn't add one two years ago. I'd like to think they've learnt their lesson, but I'll wait and see.

Such key positions that we keep leaving ourselves short at. Striker, DM, GK. Re sign Che? We still need to bring in a first choice striker. Sign Downes? We still need another DM. Re sign McCarthy, we still need a new first choice GK. I will remain hopeful that this is the year that we learn from our mistakes.

 

Why are well offering Che anything?
He obviously wanted away from Saints, proven he isn’t good enough for the premiership and will stop us buying a better striker who might actually score goals, unlike Che
