Just in the name of accuracy, they didn't legislate to allow them to start, it's always happened and usually at higher levels than it is now, it's just people are aware of it now and object to it and they didn't legislate to stop it.

    I agree
Also the Tory strategy this week seemed to have been to tell everyone” it’s all over already, don’t even bother voting against us we’re so far behind it won’t make any difference”…

Unusual tactic but I think it will help them

Agreed, I'd have have forced them to suspend dividends until the issue had been resolved.

Don't MPs who lose their seats get full pay for the next five years? That's currently, what, £75k a year, no doubt free of tax and linked...= £375,000 +.... Poor bar-stewards having to cope on that, while also getting their second salaries from their other job(s)..Bunch of to$$ers.

Then theres Liz Truss on a PM salary for ages, after been in for 44 days...
At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.

But along with everything else, prisons are squeezed to capacity too.

Not sure where you've got that from. I think a losing MP gets twice statutory redundancy payment and maybe gets paid for a month or 2 to wind his office down. Nowhere near 5 years. I think ex-PM's can claim upto £100k-ish pa for public duties undertaken.

You may be right, but I;m sure I read or heard something about MPs still getting paid for several years...Its like the parachute payments to ensure they don't go stony broke.

how are professional footballers under greater scutiny with betting than politicians?

politicians should not be allowed to bet or even use any stock exchange

MP's who lose their seats get a grand total of £17,300, which they have to use to wind down their offices and get rid of any staff.

Good luck with that....I bet half of the Tory MPs are ex-stockbrokers with their ear to the ground.

What and spend some money on infrastructure?!

How are we supposed to afford tax breaks for the ultra rich whilst doing that?

anyone who has their tax residence in another country but has any business operations here, should be kicked out

and any corporations that operate here, should pay their full tax
