Actually there's only evidence that it did and no evidence that it didn't. Essentially there's stuff out there from journalists and there's denials from fans. What's the truth ? Probable that something went on.

On Goron, David Ornstien who is classed as quite reliable, has stated that there was an arms length enquiry some time ago, Newcastle rejected it. Other rags have produced varied, sensationalised versions of both stories. It’s simple media stuff really. When there’s nothing to talk about, bar England being ****e, they get somewhat flexible with the truth.
