It could be as simple as Speakman wanting to do things properly with due diligence, and wanting to "interview" all coaching staff who join. So De Bris can't say for certain his people are coming in as they're following a formal process.
Or it could be control and that's why getting a head coach in the first place took so long... Tin hat.
Pinched from X but gave me a chuckle. I don’t care for Saudi money, money can’t buy you Rigg. Can’t buy you Riiiiigg. FTM
Indeed... but would be strange as to all the rumours of his staff coming in then, if they weren't at least interviewing / talking to us.
I think that's the biggest problem tbh. People think that because it's rumoured he wants to bring people in they assume it's from his previous club. That rumour almost becomes a fact, despite the club saying not saying a word, then there's panic when the facts come out. I can't believe I'm seeing people saying they're worried ... ... seriously, it's all a bit hysterical.
Looking into it, I actually think this is a major problem. Recent foreign appointments in the championship haven't been able to bring many staff with them. Thorup at Norwich brought one coach, that coach has been a head coach multiple times so would qualify, but he wasn't a coach Thorup worked with at Nordsjaelland because the coaches he had there wouldn't qualify. Röhl brought two foreign members of staff but one had worked in England before and the other has been a head coach so they'd be fine. The rest of his staff are English. Cifuentes took one coach to QPR and that coach had worked in England before. Just doing basic research I don't think any of Le Bris staff at Lorient would qualify. My knowledge on work permits is very limited, however there is definitely a pattern there.
Burnley, in the meantime, are supposed to be signing a £2m left back before they've even appointed a manager. It's rumoured to be Scott Parker who was unceremoniously booted out of his job at Club Brugge, no idea who his staff were there or who he'd take to Burnley.tbh. Whatever the case Rosenior is still looking for a club, not having much luck.
Seems like the speakman quotes match up with what I have said …. Offers are in (very good ones) but because of the nature of the players we’re after (Norwood etc) we’re waiting on their decision. After all it’s most likely going to be his last move so he wants to make sure it’s right
Liam Cooper failed to agree a contract at Leeds and is now a free agent (reportedly). 32 y/o, left footed centre back. Wonder if he is one we look at.
He was shocking last season, one of the worst CBs i watched in the league. Had a cracking career and might just have had a bad season but i work with a few leeds fans and they said hes a shadow of the player he was a couple yrs ago
