Just perhaps he "inherited" the coaches at Lorient and has decided he would like to build his own coaching team
Didn't I read somewhere that the guy he worked with at Lorient took over from him when he left, so he was probably never down to come anyways. From listening to him, he knows about European football and coaches so maybe he's said to Speakman that he wouldn't mind working with this bloke or that one but then again that wouldn't put a negative spin on things
Absolutely a possibility, as long as he is getting a say in some of the staff then I have no qualms over it whatsoever.
If he's not sure people want to emigrate it would be stupid trying to push them into it. It's not like a computer game, people have families, schools, doctors, friends, family, etc. How many of us would move to Dusseldorf just because our mate went and wanted us to go and do exactly the same job, same money, etc ... ... seriously, it's ridiculous how some people think Sunderland and the NE is a massive draw. We can't even get some English players to move from south of Leeds
Nothing wrong with trying to recruit the best staff possible rather than just people he knows. He might be wanting coaches that have worked in English football to come in with him Cant understand why folk would be negative about it like, he says interviews are underway - bet they are a lot further along than folk think - so clearly being able to bring in staff to support him
I like him. I liked what he said in terms of needing some leaders but that doesn't necessarily mean older players. Also like how he mentioned being able to have quick attacks but also control games. Not sure it's what some want to hear but it's really good that he spoke about the project being right for him and being fully aligned with KLD/Speakman. That doesn't mean he's a 'yes man', it just means he fits. As long as he gets a say in the coaching staff I don't really care if it's ones he's worked with before, especially if he gets his advisors.
The same people moaning will be the ones who'd be screaming 'Jobs for the boys' if he brought his own staff
He was asked if he'd be bringing "a team" from France and he said no, but that doesn't necessasrily mean he won't bring one or two familiar faces...
Interesting. I think the assumption was, as a relatively new English speaker, it might be less isolating to bring in somebody he already knows so that he can adapt faster.
Could agree more. Incompetent to just let a head coach appoint who he wants. We want the best possible coaches, we also want succession planning. I think what's we all agree on is that we need some new staff. However that manifests, I don't mind. Maric, now part of kompanys staff cos he's highly rated, not cos they know each other
The first press conference of the new SAFC manager ... ... and the hottest topic, on RTG, is what Prehab has to say on here
@JamesCopley_ Régis Le Bris says there's a "process of interviews" regarding his backroom staff. Says he cannot say anything more but the process is ongoing. When asked if he would be bringing people from France, his answer was: "No". #SAFC
Rigg yesterday, referenced how important a stable backroom staff helped influence his decision. We .ust add more, but having others around for the long term is really important. Definitely needs a new assistant though and a coach
My first impressions are calmness, he’s nice and calm and that makes me feel calm. He’s quite thoughtful and thinks before answering, you get the impression he’s thought a lot about the game and he had ideas on going forward. early days yet but I’m in the excited camp
The players seem to love Dodds. I have absolutely no problem him staying as a first team coach. Agree Le Bris should get to choose his assistant though. Hopefully he is. (and he may well even choose Dodds)
That’s my point really. No need for people to melt down before we know what’s happening and why. Could be RLB choice.
