He is getting an advisor or two I believe mate. Think they are trying to bring in external coaches. Seems a strange way to go but the Speakman never does anything conventional.

I'm warming to this bloke, sounds like he'll make them work and help them think better for themselves on the pitch

Disappointing that. Was hoping he'd have people here he'd worked with before.

Even just someone to lean on. Doesn't sound like its particularly close to bringing further backroom staff though, so guess Dodds is assistant.

If he doesn't land 1 or 2 close advisors and has to have Dodds and other external coaches appointed by Speakman then the meltdown will be absolutely justified.

Not saying that is going to happen but if the club dodnt delivery a couple who are known to RLB and support him in this new role then.....

Just said we are looking at bringing in one or two experienced players. Good to hear. Striker mentioned by media bloke and hinted we clearly know what we want. Sounds like we are going to play the RLB way. Fans to be the 12th man .Canny interview so far. Looks a genuine fella and comes across well.

Got a really good feeling about RLB. Speaks very well and I think we'll do well this season.

I think patience might be needed as we may not get going straight away if the playing philosophy changes, but I think with time, he'll get us firing.

As long as the club do everything they promised RLB then it should be ok. It's all about what he is comfortable with IMHO

Maybe he is happy to build a new team of coaches and the club have promised him an improvement on the level of people he has around him?

Did I read he likes advisors and has one guy he trusts and he was linked with coming in?

It's almost as if some people are just waiting to jump on something.

You'd think they'd, at least, manage to wait and see who's coming before the moaning starts.

Good read that especially as I think Vitto was genuine and always seemed like a top pro and around bloke. Defoe got a lot of credit for the things he did with Bradley but as I remember Vitto was involved and did a lot of work with community groups etc.. as he always seemed to be one of the players doing it?

Just perhaps he "inherited" the coaches at Lorient and has decided he would like to build his own coaching team

Didn't I read somewhere that the guy he worked with at Lorient took over from him when he left, so he was probably never down to come anyways. From listening to him, he knows about European football and coaches so maybe he's said to Speakman that he wouldn't mind working with this bloke or that one but then again that wouldn't put a negative spin on things

Absolutely a possibility, as long as he is getting a say in some of the staff then I have no qualms over it whatsoever.

If he's not sure people want to emigrate it would be stupid trying to push them into it.

It's not like a computer game, people have families, schools, doctors, friends, family, etc.

How many of us would move to Dusseldorf just because our mate went and wanted us to go and do exactly the same job, same money, etc ...

... seriously, it's ridiculous how some people think Sunderland and the NE is a massive draw.

We can't even get some English players to move from south of Leeds <laugh>

Nothing wrong with trying to recruit the best staff possible rather than just people he knows. He might be wanting coaches that have worked in English football to come in with him

Cant understand why folk would be negative about it like, he says interviews are underway - bet they are a lot further along than folk think - so clearly being able to bring in staff to support him

I like him. I liked what he said in terms of needing some leaders but that doesn't necessarily mean older players. Also like how he mentioned being able to have quick attacks but also control games.

Not sure it's what some want to hear but it's really good that he spoke about the project being right for him and being fully aligned with KLD/Speakman. That doesn't mean he's a 'yes man', it just means he fits.

As long as he gets a say in the coaching staff I don't really care if it's ones he's worked with before, especially if he gets his advisors.
