A midfielder who can chip in with 6-8 goals a season would also help

On paper Maddison could be that, and you have to presume that was one of the reasons for signing him, but with his form trailing off for a considerable chunk of the season he stalled out at 4, meaning that Maddison, Sarr and Bentancur got 8 between the three of them...and the number stays the same if you add Bissouma, Hojbjerg and SKipp to the list

I think Maddison is definitely capable of that, I felt he got a bit of unnecessary stick last season, genuinely believe Ange rushed him back and it just ****ed him, likewise Bentancur. Was electric in the first few months and whilst a dip is to be expected, I think that dip for him was largely down to fitness than just being inconsistent. He didn’t look right for a while and I think it’s because he was probably still playing through injury.

I’ve made no secret of wanting Eze though, I think he’d be the type of signing to take us up a level as he turns our midfield options from good to great but I just get more and more doubtful with each day that it’ll happen.

TBH the moment Olise moved that pretty much means Eze (and likely Guehi) are staying put

I'm getting similar with Desire Doue as it feels like a game of transfer window chicken, because if we bid then surely at least one of Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal will immediately pounce and come in with a bid - and you have to wonder if Los Ladrones have already been whispering in his agent's ear

I still think Eze can be got even with Olise's pending departure but my concerns are that we'll either baulk at the asking price/ release clause or we'll be pipped by the likes of Liverpool.

There's definitely gonna be a battle for Doue. No one's having a free run at him. He'll have the pick of about 6 or 7 I'd imagine.

Well there's something we haven't seen for a while: more than one club actually wanting one of our players

Sounds like Gray had part of his medical last night according to Michael Bridge and Lyall Thomas.

£40million is a big amount for Spurs.

He’s only 18 but highly rated. Will he play much?

The Twitter ‘experts’ all say he would have got more first team minutes at Brentford. Surely Spurs haven’t spent that much of their budget to have a youngster who won’t play and then be loaned in January like we’ve seen before.

I think he’s bound to have had some assurances over game time, be mad if we don’t utilise him anyway, especially as the DM spot is open. Leeds fans say he’s mustard and social media analytical accounts reckons he’s the bollocks so it sounds like a decent coup for us. The fee ain’t even too shabby either I’d say, especially as Chelsea/ Villa and co are now cooking the books with inflated fees for academy players, getting a player who’s already played 50+ times for Leeds and a couple games for Eng U21s at 18 years old for £30m + an unwanted player is a solid deal.

Depends on outgoings - to both questions, actually

For the first part we may well claw back a chunk of the fee by sending somebody their way...though Rodon being on Ipswich's radar likely means it won't be him, so basically the question is how much Daniel Farke wants to be reunited with Skippy

As for the second part, with Hojbjerg surely leaving (and Skipp potentially headed to Leeds) that does make Gray the No2 DM in the squad so there's certainly openings for playing time there, especially if Bissouma falls off like he did last season

I’m feeling quite positive over him, looks like he’s got huge potential. Just worry he will be signed as ‘one for the future’ like we’ve seen with others in recent years. Hope hes more Sarr than Veliz

Now all we have to do is wait for people to put their abacuses away while debating about whether or not he'll count as CG a few years down the line

And on the subject of Rodon...

...also, when do we get to see Bergvall? He arrives today, so surely a photoshoot or something will follow

Possibly, although he did have a photoshoot and interview when we signed him, so it might just be a case of "look who's here!" when Spurs post the returning players for pre-season - whenever that is(?).

Bergvall and Gray are great prospects.

Would like to see any further signings be experienced ready made players though, especially the ST the club is badly craving

Sky Italia claim we can sign Giovanni Leoni for €5m...provided we loan him back to Sampdoria for the season

This does rely on Samp actually signing him from Padova first, of course...

Players purchased that have got potential, therefore the potential to make a profit once sold

I don't see them elevating us to the required levels

    Same ol Levy game

Possibly but you’d hope they can win a cup or two before they move on (assuming they smash it)

Romero is next to go next summer probably, big fee which you hope will be reinvested in the club. As long as they keep doing that then the team should progress
