Spot on but surely nobody falls for that badge kissing crap anymore. Wait for his farewell press release later in the week stating how much he loves the club and the fans blah blah
So Leeds lad through and through decides to have release clauses in his contract and has agreed personal terms with Brentford AND Spurs in 2 days. Meanwhile, if rumours are true, an ex Swansea Welsh defender wants to turn down Premier League clubs to come to Leeds. ...and we end up £30 million better off. I think it sounds a great deal.
Been thinking about the PSR deadlines etc. Pretty sure I remember that they changed it a while back & if you're naughty, there's now a phased approach to 'punishment'. I believe the first phase, once caught out, is to present an acceptable 'recovery plan' to get you back on the rails. Deductions etc. come later, if you don't adhere to said plan, I believe. If so, the June 30th 'deadline' is not an issue if your plan shows sufficient cash coming in after the deadline. Did I imagine this? Help, please, @Aski ?
But that’s what I mean, the release clause, if correct, and how quickly he has agreed personal terms doesn’t suggest that the club are forcing him out, exactly the opposite in fact. Once the terms of the clause are met the club are powerless to stop the move only Archie can decide to turn it down and stay. So I can’t see why the Gray family can be furious with the owners unless I have missed something??
i think its not a deadline like transfer deadline day... it's an accounting period. If you can demonstrate the offer was made by the date you have some fudging opportunity. Although as usual i clearly have no idea what i'm talking about
On the one hand its not a good look to lose your best talent but I think Rodon and £30m is a good deal. Not totally sure Rodon is a £10m player but he was steady at this level and appears to have genuinely wanted to come. Archie is not a 40m player in terms of what he gives us now - still mainly potential and we don't have that luxury. He's also 100% profit from a PSR perspective. My guess is he goes in 'last year's' accounts and Rodon in this years.
Archie was average last season. It's going to be 2-3 years until he's one of the best in the Country, but I can see him making it. Every time he was mentioned last season, it was 17yo Archie this, 17yo Archie that. We can fill the position with a player who will provide better, at a fraction of the cost.
On the PSR front much like transfer deadline day when you can fax through a “Deal Sheet” before the deadline you can complete the deal after the deadline. PSR is similar where an email or voice Mail is sent saying deal done, just terms to finalise. there is been some dodgy jiggers poker y going on with the Gray/Rodon deal and now on the 3rd iteration of the deal structure. The last one from David Ornstein saying Leeds get £25m for Gray and Spurs get £15m for Rodon. Romano says Leeds got £30m mostly up front and Rodon as a swap part of the deal. Romano originally said £30m for Gray and £10m seperate deal for Rodon…… think we can safely say Leeds are banking the cash and registering the sale of Gray on last years PSR and are saying Rodon is a freebie on next years PSR which is a massive help
