Selling Alfie doesn't touch the sides when it comes to cutting the losses. It's a NJ decision, and his treatment of Alfie bears that out. It's a waiting game now, and it shouldn't be too long before we know a bit more about the strengthening or otherwise of the squad. I don't pay a blind bit of notice to what the SMT say, so don't get angry about them. I still see Douchbag as a bigger threat to the club.
100%, if we owned The Valley tomorrow our situation changes immediately. I have always said it was a land situation for Dushitelet. We'll not be playing at The Valley in 10 years time.
According to the Village Idiot elsewhere, Godden (who the club are not even interested in ) and Ahadme (never heard of him, but scored 40% of May’s tally last season) will definitely score more goals next season. To justify this pathetic mealy mouthed sale, I’ve also seen a (cough) strange justification for it ….namely that goals scored in previous seasons don’t guarantee goals in the next one. Honestly, you couldn’t make it up If only Man City had known this when they bough Haaland, or Bayern Munich when they spent £100m on Kane. Everyone starts with a clean slate apparently, at least at Charlton they do in some eyes.
Ivor is a liar. Braindead is........braindead. Ridiculous is a eloquent wum. Mundane is shagging Ridiculous. the lot of 'em.
We would have Kanu, who is an excellent prospect , Aneke, who pulls up lame having a dump in the morning, and Leaburn, who is back in October.
Maybe we need a nippy little striker who can be relied on to get on the end of anything loose and tuck it away? 20+ times a season?
1st July - still nothing on the website about Alfie May. Has he gone or hasn't he? If it's done why aren't fans being told? Would much rather get the bad news out of the way and look ahead to (at least the possibility) of a few more new signings.
It's not done. He is having a medical at Huddersfield today.According to an ITK poster on a Huddersfield Forum.
If he’s gone he’s gone , knowt we can do about it , what’s important to me is getting someone in who plays to NJ’s style and improves our squad - if that doesn’t happen then we can question NJ and the SMT - I don’t think we can expect the improvement needed to be done in one season though
Does beg the question; What would be the minimum acceptable improvement for Charlton this season? Top half? Top 10? Play-off place? I've got to hope for 6th place. If we come close - finish 7th or 8th and just miss out in the last couple of games - then fair play. I wouldn't be too upset. Anything less than that will be disappointing. Though I know it is about style of play as well. If Charlton play some exciting attacking football and finish 10th or similar, that will be a marked improvement. That should also mean we don't flirt with relegation again.
Top six for me. But the way it is going with the recruitment. Halfway. But I live in hope of us bringing in another five good signings. I also believe pigs can fly.
You'd think that when NJ signed the contract he'd have been promised the backing for a rebuild over the summer. Maybe the problem is moving the deadwood along. Several of them are probably on better wages than they'd get anywhere else.
Things need to happen this week, by which I mean the drastic stepping up of recruiting new players. This summer has been characterised by more hot air than you’d need to lift a Zeppelin …mainly on one forum …but very little in the way of actual squad strengthening. The fanbase has constantly been gas lit ..whoops sorry ….assured …that there is a healthy transfer budget in place, one that is not reliant on selling star players first, so how about we start spending it. As things stand, this is all looking very familiar & underwhelming.
