They still got 8 in the end I think. Ultimately the people laying out their home made calculations rather than using the evidence have been found out once again though. The adidas deal, Sela deal, champions league deal and all that **** was already factored in.....the 'it's to keep prices down' crap was my favourite though. Anyway they got the sales done that's the main thing.... now they'll start thinking we've got big money to spend again though...50 million i think max.
And Forest, and Chelsea and Everton and Villa. All 5 clubs will simply say 'you set the rules' we stayed within them. There will be yet another rule change soon to close that loophole. What the whole affair has shown me is that we need to go out and spend a load on academy kids like Chelsea as that spend doesn't count (correct me if I'm wrong). We then have a bank of talent who we can just churn over organically. Another revenue stream.
So... with the cashley compo, we should have north of £70m in pure profit? What does that turn into in terms of added transfer monies from today? We can add Wilson to Saudi to that too I reckon.
It won't surprise me if Howe chooses to keep Wilson, Trippier, Almiron and definitely Longstaff. Nobody has a clue about the numbers though... it's just made up.
Sell Wilson for 20m. I reckon we can then go and spend about 100-150m on players now. Less the 7m we paid for this Greek GK lad I’ve not seen much of. Is he any good?
Yeah everyone is wrong about the psr situation... I recall saying he number was 70 million about a week ago and being advised on here I was wrong and it was 25. The idea that noobody had the brains to factor on the Adidas deal when making the reports except people on here or twitter is laughable.
The adidas deal kick starts today As for how much we owed we still don’t really know. All we know it’s more than we sold Minteh for.
There was never any argument about when the deal started. The debate was whether Newcastle were even in bother with psr. They were ... the battle is concluded.... It went on months and the truth has now been revealed We've not got the spend vote to do the rest....which is separate debate. I hope I'm wrong on this part btw.
What I meant, was having been first to mention the deal, I was sure you were up to speed with any others .... There, wasn't that difficult was it? Thought a bright lad like you would have realised that Not sure why I got the abuse on that basis
Was for 2 different seasons. They got a more lenient one second time round as they claimed they’d already been punished. A fairer one would possibly be Forrest’s.
Newcastle really can't just afford to take punishments. This idea they should just take the punishments is ill thought out. They have to follow the rules and in time they'll get closer. If they end up behaving like Everton they'll end up being like Everton. The new squad cost ratio system is coming and the city legal case is worth keeping an eye on.... it's no time for daft decisions. This is a case of playing the long game.
Must confess I was wrong with where I felt the numbers were. Looks increasingly like Ashworth money was also needed so we're probably talking about £70m or so to comply with what are becoming increasingly ludicrous rules. There needs to be questions asked internally, why were we at the wire, why so last minute, how did it get to a possible position of needing to sell Gordon? It's not a great look and there's a lot of growing up needs to happen, and fast. Hopefully this is the end of the issues for the foreseeable and we can now just concentrate on the playing side.
