That's probably right for the rest of the world but in Acun's world it's 50% to get the original cheap deal, isn't it?
If there is a feeling that the player wants Barca(pretty likely) and the club feel they should somehow accommodate this. I would make sure that there is a clause whereby if Barca backs out then the loan fee which should already be significant is increased. I would also have an agreement in place with Philogene that if Barca doesn't take him permanently a contract extension/new contract is triggered with us.
First one you can do, Galatasaray got extra money from Zaniolo since Villa did not pay for permanent fee. Second in theory you can't, because Barcelona legally is not part of any contract discussion between Philogene and Hull, although you know there is always a workaround in law. Signing a protocol between Hull and Jaden may be, but probably won't be legalized in FA.
The ones posting about the deal say don't trust Barca to pay up. They still owe tws money off one deal from a while back, although that's not a bad thing.
That doesn't help us though. We need the money for FFP, and Jaden's value is high. After a year of not playing for Barca we'd be lucky to get £10m for him. I still think he'll end up at a PL club.
I don’t think Delap’s worth £10 million and I don’t think we should pay that even if we could. Would be a huge chunk of any transfer budget and FFP headroom on one player. Would be different if we got promoted. Man City tend to sell their academy prospects for big money, especially to Southampton, even if they haven’t played much senior football. They’ve sold Lavia, Bazunu, Shea Charles and Edozie to Southampton alone for big fees, which is why I think Delap will go there for the fee quoted.
If you like yes villa thought Philogene would not cut it and he came to us and proved himself enough other teams become interested maybe Barca have similar type players in what ever positions they feel the same about but would improve here never know.
If it is an obligation then FFP/PSR wise I don’t think it harms us too much. We would be slightly more limited had we sold him this year up front but for the 3 year period including this and next year we can essentially spend some of the headroom. Not to mention if Greaves goes anyway. If anything it could work for us as it’s spreading the benefits further. Would still want a good fee upfront however.
We would be completely limited this year, as we would lose Jaden and we'd only be able to include the loan fee which by the sounds would be minimal as Barca are completely skint. It doesn't make sense unless it's an overpriced fee.
If we sell Greaves though it’s kind of moot. We’d have that available to us and then next year there’s zero pressure to sell.
It just doesn't make sense though. We're basically giving Philogene away this year and won't see anything for 12 months, why would we do that? What's the point? We might as well keep him and sell him in 12 months
If you keep him away from a big club, I don't think he will perform as he was to be fair. These things usually ends up that way.
There's 3/4 PL clubs after him, so he won't be staying, which is why it makes zero sense to loan him when we can get £20m this summer.
