Very pleased to see Smith get called up. I really hope it goes well for him, because potentially he could be the national keeper for many years to come. It does put Surrey in an interesting position though, because I'm guessing that neither Smith nor the ECB will want Surrey to be playing him without the gloves in the Championship. Foakes is only 31, so still has plenty of years left yet. If Surrey want to continue with him as their red ball keeper, they risk losing Smith as their white ball keeper (ie because he moves to another county). Maybe not too dissimilar to when Somerset lost Buttler because they decided to stick with Kieswetter behind the stumps.
H 415 - 6 lunch ( I have been absent for a few days after a password change went horribly wrong and locked me out of the site, Senior moment)
Kent will probably consider that a decent bowling effort. 92, 403, 530-7, 543-7, 549-9, 554, 591-7, 618-7 are their previous 1st innings scores. So this is the third lowest score they've conceded!!
I saw it happen a few weeks ago in a Vipers match. Apparently the ECB have directed umpires to be quite strict with applying the penalty this season.
