The referee now doing what pretty much all referees do... Psychology... now that Denmark are 1-0 down, the referee assumes everything the losing team do now is desperate and inherently a foul. It's what always happens to underdog teams who concede.
Germany show England how to go 1 up, and then keep the pressure on, and sucker punch the opponents with a second on the break
VAR decisions. Correct according to the **** rules. Bin it. Still much prefer Germany to Denmark, so jolly good.
The 2 worst decisions made by VAR in this competition have both been made by Stuart Atwell. Complete knob
The female ref that ITV have as their expert stood her corner well when trying to justify those 2 decisions.... the only problem was that she sounded like a spokesperson for FIFA giving a talk to staff.... it's ridiculous the depth of review VAR is giving to incidents especially offside.... should be if it's visible to the naked eye it's offside, if not striker gets benefit of doubt.... there's no way anyone would have called that offside..... VAR simply looks for ways to disallow goals..... get rid
News Update…… The FA is looking to charge the individual who stole Southgate’s tactics for the upcoming match against Slovenia. Southgate has made mention of his greatest of plans, now worthless. Stay tuned…
He has to go by the rules, even if he disagrees with them. Not his fault on these occasions. Denmark's disallowed goal - the player gained absolutely no advantage by his toenail being offside, especially since he moved in the opposite direction straight after. The technology should be used purely for seeing if the ball crosses the line And possibly to see if players were NOT offside when a goal has been disallowed by the human linesman.
It's the handball which was the diabolical decision not the offside. Whether he has to abide by the rules or not. The ref didn't give it so to refer him to go to the monitor to review it was a joke. If that's a penalty then I'm afraid the games had it !
The problem when you introduce more scrutiny into the game, they tend to over police and look for any reason, not to give a goal. The more people involved, the more chance for error.
Can someone tell me whether the rule that the player has to be interfering with play has gone? That is surely more relevant than the size of his boot. If it is still relevant does the fact nobody mentioned it mean that they thought the player was interfering. On this occasion certainly I can't see how. The handball too. Did the touch alter the path of the ball to deprive the attacking team having a clearer shot or header? If so I must have missed that.. We've gone from common sense interpretation to mathematical precision yet still pander to the notion that the decision is for the man in the middle rather than the one in the studio sipping gin and tonics when we can all see it isn't. Finally, unnatural position? When did referees, and all of us in fact, become trained behavioural analysts? It's not as simple as 'well he plays in the Prem for Palarse and so is a good lad. Everyone last night on both channels was willing to excuse him yet the tape measure comes out once again to say his arm strayed beyond the natural boundary. Reminds me of a case we learned about when studying burglary as part of the Criminal law element of the Law degree course where the burglar saw the nubile homeowner, had an erection and the issue in the case was whether he (or rather his todger) had entered the building. How we laughed at the time at the absurdity of someones fate being decided by that. Wish I could remember the name of the case
Re the handball.... just go back the the old rule, deliberate or accidental..... deliberate penalise, accidental play on....... simples..... and that gets rid of this stupid thing of defenders playing with hands behind their back to avoid the ball hitting their hand/arm.....the most unnatural arm position possible for playing football.....
Only change Mainoo for Gallagher ! Complete joke, Southgate has to be on the wind up ffs , no one's that clueless not even Ainsworth !
