England star left with nasty cut after falling off his bike at Euro 2024 (msn.com) This would not happen to Souhgate. please log in to view this image
When you consider the wealth of talent available for selection it beggars belief that we are unable to put a squad on the field capable of decent things, and it has been the same way for years. Either Southgate doesn't know what his best starting line-up should be or the players can't adjust to his idea of the correct set-up and I tend to think that the problems lies somewhere in between. With the speed and talent on hand you would tend to believe that we should be capable of way better but it just never happens and we let our opposition dictate our style of play rather than the other way around. These players get big salaries for their part in the success of their individual employers but when they don the national shirt they all go to pieces and allow lesser, on paper, teams to control them and play lousy boring football to add insult to injury. Is it too much to ask England to play the way they did back about 15 years ago when they embarrassed Germany on their home soil and actually looked like world beaters? The match against Slovakia is going to be no pushover and if any of these players think any different then they will get a rude awakening from a team that has more national pride than any of our dour lot. For goodness sake show a little sign of life because so far you have been an embarrassment to your nation and now you have one more shot at showing what you are capable of before it's too late to ring the changes. I have witnessed some major surprises in the tournament but another set of poor showings by England regrettably isn't one of them.
The Georgian team has got a lot of praise from many sources due to their determination and effort whilst wearing their national shirt but for some reason St George looks more favourably on them than us. I bet if you were to ask the average Georgian in the street when their national day is they would all know the answer. On the other hand how many English subjects know that our St Georges day is on April 23rd, but rarely if ever celebrated. Sad but true I'm sure.
I think that depends mate. If we look organised, clinical, ruthless and thrash the opposition by more than 3 goals then I expect there might be a few England fans who might dare to believe. IF we do this - and then repeat it in the Quarters - and the Semis, only then I might dare to join them…..!!
Does my head in, thing is that song is 28 years old. If you don’t this year I suggest a rewrite with 60 years of hurt. Which coincides with my 60th year on this planet.
You'd have thought if these flags were really a health and safety issue at all they would not be legally on sale.
Football official songs seem to have died a death. Nobody does them now. Back in the day, until the 90s they all did it - including club teams for the cup finals (Chelsea, Tottenham, Man U) This has to be the best ever National Team song though…… Quite poignant even today
Apparently the England team won’t be voting in the General Election next week. They can’t find the box let alone put a cross in it..
Or has had massive luck with the easier routes through in major competitions.. Needs to Start Palmer against Slovakia
Referee shown the red card….. https://www.sportbible.com/football/football-news/euro-2024-referee-756053-20240627 I didn’t watch the France v Austria game so can’t comment specifically, but apart from the England games which I thought were reffed pretty well I think the standard of refereeing overall has been pretty poor so far this tournament.
Swiss look miles better than Italy. Everything is better even their Managers suit is better that the Italians, and as for his hair no contest big flamboyant sweep over the head.. Armani is out of his depth. please log in to view this image Southgate will have to raise his game.
Foden will probably be subbed, the penny will eventually drop with Southgate that Foden plays best centrally. Gordon will come on and we'll look better. Whether it will be enough who knows? What we need is a complete attitude change, we're so bloody negative.
This has to be the worst first half display I have ever seen from England and I have to wonder if Southgate has a clue how to change our fortunes in the next 45 minutes? Every single player looks off the pace and bewildered by each other's passes and efforts which can only lead to defeat at the hands of yet another lower ranked team. This constant passing back across the centre line drives me mad because I have to watch Bristol City do it each week of the season. Is it any wonder to hear the deserved boos and to watch the players trying to encourage their supporters to get behind the team is pathetic at best because they are the ones who need to up the ante rather than just stand around moaning about everything and anything. To put the icing on the cake I think we could be down a p[layer on a red card early on if the performance doesn't radically improve and frustration sets in. Utterly shameful from a bunch of guys who have their world by the nuts but couldn't give a rat's arse when they put on the national shirt as clearly the mansion and hot tub is not enough to satisfy their collective egos.
England and Bristol City A lot of parallels and comparisons there Both under achievers and both run by idiots and managed by yes men
