You can imagine BB when the £700 a quarter gas bill comes in . “It’s only for £70 wots the problem. I’m going to pay £30 stop moaning”
Education and knowledge equals enlightenment. I can't stand these TV programmes that Lord ignorant and stupid people and make them Stars like Joey Essex and Gemma Collins. I have been listening to Stephen Fry a lot recently on his lectures on Religion and Political Correctness. I advise you all to do the same.
This is a post I nicked from CL but sums it up for me. Last season there was only 4 players that I thought were good enough for what we need. Blackett Taylor Dobson May Small. Three have left and one won't sign a contract extension. Not bedwetting but **** me I hope 5 or 6 quality players come in soon.
I have been making exactly this point elsewhere since news about May broke. This SMT are nothing more than charlatans. It’s always “8-8-8” and jam tomorrow and horse s hit. Where is the squad strengthening ? We have signed Cambridge’s keeper as a back up, and Luke Berry >>> George Dobson ? No pace, width or creativity signed yet, and we should be supplementing Alfie May’s goals, not hoping to replace them.
please log in to view this image Richard Cawley @RichCawleySLP · Follow Early indications are, as first reported by @SportsPeteO, that #cafc have accepted bid from Birmingham City for Alfie May. Talks set to take place over the weekend. All this narrative about May wants to get back to his Family in Yorkshire. Last time I looked Birmingham was in the Midlands. It’s all about money let’s not kid ourselves. Huddersfield bid £750000 for May Birmingham’s bid was £755000. Less 20 per cent to Cheltenham. That leaves just over £600000 for the leagues top scorer. **** off Charlton. Ipswich want 1M for Ahadme and he scored eleven goals last season. Pathetic.
Apparently the price is £775000. So that is £658750 after the 15 per cent to Cheltenham. https://www.footballinsider247.com/birmingham-city-hijack-huddersfield-towns-alfie-may-deal-sources/
Sensible post from TC. I'm waiting to see what else transpires. I was on my allotment at 6.20 this morning. Beautiful, and very therapeutic
why do you feel the need to come on here a Charlton Forum and tell us what to do? It’s got **** all to do with you
Alfie May - from the player’s point of view, it’s a no brainer. He is 31, and from a financial perspective moving to Birmingham sets him up for life. from the club’s perspective, a £180,000 purchase turns a 300% profit within 12 months, again, a no brainer. They look very very foolish using May as the pin up boy in June to flog season tickets - only 7,200 sold suggests that the vast majority are still sceptical about this ownership & SMT. From an ordinary paying / travelling fans perspective- and it’s important to understand the difference between those of us in that catergory and forum fans, it’s a kick in the teeth. As former 606 excellent poster I Want A Takeover used to point out …the latest in a long, long line of owners who prioritise a quick buck over ambition. Nathan Jones also has a bit of explaining to do now, IMO. I trust we are signing some very good players this week.
The manager and the SMT knew they were going to sell May. That is why they had the Q and A with the supporters when they did. I have been played AGAIN. I believed in all the crap they fed me, yet again. Trying to sell season tickets. Saying they didn’t need to sell before buying. All bullshit.
We're now in a situation where ever more Charlton fans will never believe or trust anything the owners or suits at CAFC ever say. They ruthlessly play on the yearning among fans to be optimistic during the closed season. Pretending that the future is going to be better after this latest rebuild, after blaming all troubles on previous regimes. Well that isn't going to work anymore for this bunch of shysters. Nothing they say carries any weight at all. Only their actions tell us what they really want. And how little they really care.
It’s clear from elsewhere that a fringe group still trust them @lardiman Hey, we’ve got Dr Will the scientist on board, and Methven was soooooooo reassuring with his platitudes last week as he assumed the CEO title. Still no evidence of any significant investment in new players though …
