Agreed. He won't be signing a new contract and his value will only drop each window from now. We have to cash in and use the money to strengthen. Be sad to see him go but it's best thing to do long term.

I really think he likes it here and has a lot of close mates and not far from home but as you say his transfer fee could buy the players we need to really strengthen the team. There are others I would sell before him as the squad is definitely bloated in certain areas. It's let's wait and see time , I liked Millar the few times I've seen him play but thought Sheffield Utd were favourites to sign him ?

I would like to think if he's happy here and doesn't want to go then I'd be happy for him to stay but he should be signing a 2 year extension to his contract if he doesn't want to go

Personally I'm not convinced by Norwood, think he's the type of signing we would've made years ago. Last pay day, and on the decline. I would much rather we signed someone else of a similar ilk but younger. I understand we need experience in the squad but I hope Norwood wouldn't be a regular fixture in the first 11.

Also on Ba, he's apparently the most gifted in the squad, he's only a bairn still who has massive potential imo. Looking at his insta, he's bulked up a bit too.

I’m not sure about Norwood to be honest. We need to up the experience but not sure he’s close to legs going. Browne a yes all day long though he’s more box to box.

In a two without a DM in front is difficult for any centre half. I think most of our centre halves would be okay with a proper CDM in front of them. That said Alese has looked better at LB generally and despite his physique isn’t that dominant in the air.

Norwood played all 46 games in the 22/23 season when they went up. Why would he not start as much as he can. Not sure where this whole “decline” thing is coming from he’d still be a quality defensive midfielder in the championship

Browne 100%, just got a nagging doubt about Norwood

Also with Browne he’s not the same type of midfielder as Norwood. He’s an 8. Norwood would be coming in as the defensive midfielder we’ve needed. We have Neil, Ekwah and Jobe that can all play as an 8

Haven't really looked into his stats or anything. Just reminds me of a signing we'd make in years gone by.

No idea if he's any good or not but I'll be fully behind him if he signs

I'm a bit the same but if it's a one year deal with an option for another, I think it's a decent risk.

Yeah he played 46 games in 22/23 when they got promoted and was very very solid as a DM for them and 23/24 he played 27 games in the PL

It’s obviously comments from a very disgruntled fanbase and judging him in the Premier League but there are also lots of comments there about him not being up to it in their promotion season too and it needing Doyle to come in for him to see them over the line as he was struggling so much.

He’s not really, as you refer to him, a defensive midfielder as such either. Even when he’s played deeper as a sitter it’s more as a deep lying creator with a another alongside him, in the Prem a more destructive, aggressive player, who reads the game, to break up the oppositions play and stop them being overrun (it’s the latter we’re lacking in our squad in my opinion).

I’d love for us to sign a proper dedicated/specialist defensive midfielder that allows the rest of our midfield options (which could include Norwood) to do what suits their attributes best.

Read earlier that he got hooked after 15 minutes in one of those games. That's a bit terrifying.

I'm not against Norwood, but just cautious as I think he's a throw back to what we'd sign in years gone by.

I haven't delved too deep into him as a player and hope it works out. I think, as a fanbase , we're desperate for us to sign some experience and an older head but hopefully it's not the first well known name aged 30+.

I understand this in theory, but Clarke is the hardest player in our team to replace. Millar is a good championship winger but he's miles behind Clarke. I'd be happy with us signing him as Clarke's replacement but we would need to spend the money on 3 players and all 3 of them to be amongst the best players at the club for us to move forward.

As people have mentioned Norwood isn't a defensive midfielder more of a deep playmaker, I'd prefer us to sign someone who can break up play and do the dirty work

I'd see him more as cover for Neil

The signing is fine but he isn't what some are saying he is. Norwood as a lone 6 is asking for trouble. The Sheff Utd system was essentially built around him and protecting his off ball deficiencies. He's great on the ball but do we not already have that? I'd rather play Neil, Rigg or Ekwah.

Even if he signs we still need another more destructive midfielder, so why don't we just spend the wages on someone who will enhance our midfield not add to the issues.

I want us to sign 23 year olds not 33 year olds. This whole “experience” thing is a misnomer.
