hull town came into being before the 1890s. in the chris elton book, it describes how hull town cricket club decided in 1879 to play football during the winter months. the book says the club had folded by 1887. the soccerbase site shows them losing fa cup ties 1-3 at home to grimsby on november 3rd 1883 and 1-5 at home to lincoln on november 1st 1884, both, of course, before the inauguration of the football league.

i have a few hull town match reports taken from newspapers at the history centre. i'll see if i can find them.

Hull Town restarted again after 1887 and after amalgamating with another club became Hull Kingston Rovers.

interesting. i find r.l. history difficult to investigate. it's not something i know much about, but a friend of my parents played for hkr in the 1950s, so i did try, he passed away a few years back aged around 92.

slighty off topic, here's a report on the 1884 fa cup final from one of our local papers (the hull packet, iirc):

Got the last bit wrong, they were reformed in 1896 by HKR as a football club.

Liked their kit. That would have been unique.

one from 1884 for r.l. fans. hull v castleford, the score was 1 goal, 1 try, and 7 minor points to 1 goal and 2 minor points. i've no idea what that means, though i can see the winning margin was a try and five minor points.

i've also noticed that chris elton says that after the club "going the way of all flesh" by 1887, it was revived a year later, but the revival failed after two seasons.

I was chatting to Tickton Tiger offline tonight and it appears he’s been deleted from 606, any mods care to comment?

I was ' kicked out' a few weeks back, not sure why. Did the reset thing, nothing happened, tried a few times, nothing happened...
Next day had about 8-10 'reset messages...' One of them actually worked, the one with a temporary reset code, not the one with press this link.
I also sent a message to contact the mods - that I'd been locked out.

Not sure which one did it, took a day or two

His profile still exists, so not deleted

Get him to check in morning and look for a message with a temporary reset code... Not the link

Yeah I got caught in an account verification death loop where an email was supposed to be sent, but I never received it and I couldn't post or comment or see images in full size, or anything basically. After many attempts at repeating the given instructions, I gave up and created a new account as partdeux. Maybe there has been a glitch in the 606 matrix.

It’s great that James Milner is still playing, shows that age really isn’t a barrier.

Had a similar problem when posting as barchullona. Created a new account and contacted OLM. He sorted thins out and was able to access again. (Had a bit of fun with the new name, put some posts up and people who disagree with me as a matter of course and two who have me on ignore, liked them.<laugh>)
After all that got a warning I had been part of a data breech and advised to stop using the details, email and password so created another account for Cityzen.
