He's a singer/rapper from Hull who is performing at Glastonbury this weekend. He's headlined a few Humber Street Sesh years too. He's decent.
Former Chelsea youth system wonder kid, dubbed the Congolese Messi at 16. Now 32 and at Cercle Brugge in Belgium after 12 loans across Europes lower leagues. 5ft 2" defensive midfielder who chips in with the odd goal. Acun flying in to sign him on the Pyramid Stage during the Coldplay set Sunday evening. We're immediately loaning him to Juventude in Brazil for the season, before selling him to Fenerbache for €500K. Don't shoot the messenger.
Tbh as I was making it up, even I started to believe it. It's a classic City / Acun / mates rates / money laundering (allegedly) signing.
Surrey -Lee this should be on TransFair page so peeps can get totally outraged and throw a brick at their telly in the absolute outraged at [ insert conspiracy theory / story] not like this in my day...
He also does a lot of work with young people in Hull, he’s a top man. I hope he is wearing the new shirt, that would be class.
There are often reasons the release time is beyond the clubs control, eg sponsorship deals not done or suppliers unable to find production space. For example Acun might have the licence for Kappa Turkey but that doesnt mean he can just go and stick a Kappa badge on anything. It would have to be an approved Kappa factory who have been given access to the agreed templates and fabrics. We own a section of a factory in Sialkot which is a Kappa approved factory and next door to us they've been making 24/25 Replica shirts for a lot of brands such as Nike, Kappa and Hummell since December 2023. That is how far in front you need to be signed off for delivery in June when you get to decent numbers. He has a licence, if he is using the factory I think he is then he doesnt own it and will have to wait like everyone else for his goods. A brand that has been around football fashion for a few years has this year got a league two club, fairly small numbers, and they have had to make it in our factory due to the scale of orders for the bigger brands at this time of year. A brand like errea usually have shirts out in June for their clubs and is a brand I know very well with my friend still there in Parma. I visited last May to watch a Parma game and had a walk around the warehouse with him and all of the clubs gear was there waiting to be shipped having been produced 8 to 12 weeks earlier. I took Les Motherby with me and I think he posted some videos about it on his Hull City Kits page. Some will remember the absolute mess Castore made of things last year when they didnt even understand this and couldnt find factories to make replica for clubs. They were still delivering replica shirts into November to some clubs. My guess with City is that the factory they use learnt a bit last year (I know people at the club were very disappointed with the Kappa Turkey lot) and have the stock ready for a mid July shop launch which is later than most but not terrible. If you dont have all your ducks in a row (sponsors, production space, distribution) it is very difficult to get replica gear produced. Last year we had to make some Wycombe shirts for Hummel because all of their badges had fallen off having been made somewhere else. It is like the wild west is factories at the minute which is why my business partner advised we buy our own in 2020 and it was the best thing we ever did.
He used to be a nightmare to play football against. He was about 6ft7 and built like a tank when he was 15.
Spoke to people that knew him from school. Said he was a bit of a bully. Liked to hurt people. Maybe he's grown up now.
My girlfriend’s sister was in the same year as Lewis-Potter at St Mary’s. Said he was an ugly ****er with big ears but was still popular because he played for City’s academy. A girl I knew also briefly dated Dan James at South Hunsley. Anyone else got any tales of ex-City or local famous people? Not about Bullard, we’ve all heard those.
I always find it amazing that Hull is a decent-sized city yet everybody knows everybody. Max Clark was mates with some of my mates growing up so I knocked about with him once or twice as a teenager. I didn’t clock it until some time after he played for us that I hung out with him when we were kids. Maybe it is just coincidence after all that the club has a former player as assistant coach, had a former player as head coach, several relatives of former players in the academy and are linked with Sonny Bradley, Josh Windass and Liam Cooper every other transfer window.
