Watched 4 out of the 8 episodes of Taboo - Tom Hardy and Stephen Graham last night - could well finish it tonight... dark and gripping with a bit of everything... good so far ... give it an 8!!!
Caved-in and watched TWD spin-offs. Dead City - 6.3 It's lucky it has Negan otherwise it would've bombed. Overly regurgitated story and a largely **** supporting cast. Season two owes Negan to be a lot, lot better. Daryl Dixon - 8.3 Best of the lot, enjoyed it a lot. Story is a bit cheesy due to the young lad being hailed as some "second coming" but completely new setting, some different variants of zombies, decent cast and ending was good as well to lead it into season two. Ones Who Live - 7.2 Solid watch but a very predictable story that gives Rick and Michonne closure.
Furiosa 8/10 Decent plot and some very good performances. I was wondering how Anya Taylor Joy would be in the role given how good Charlize Theron was but tbf I didn't notice the difference and completely bought into her in the role. My only gripe is it lacked the adrenalin rush of Fury Road and the road battle scenes were nowhere near as good. Still a visual feast though.
Honestly the only real positive in the film was the scene chewing by Hemmingsworth, it was a run-of-the-mill CGI laden super-hero movie, obviously the radiation in the originals that ****ed everyone up has, instead, gone the Marvel route and gives everyone superpowers. There's the standard women are far superior to men at everything trope, because Hollywood struggle to write a strong female lead in an action movie these days, they just write a role for Arnie and give it to a woman. What happened to the Sarah Connors & Ellen Ripleys?
The Tom Hardy TV series that has one season that is years old and hasn't been renewed? Just read up on it and there might be a season 2 but don't hold your breath the first one was released in 2017
Yeah - Venom took over when they first wanted to do it ... and geographically the second season would be different... Watched it because we were struggling to find something and it had one of Netflux's highest thumbs up ratings - lived up to it ... some fascinating stuff in there based on historical fact as well as the very dark, broody, watchable Hardy ... Not surprised to learn it was written by the Peaky Blinders writer...
What I like about the Mad Max series and George Miller is that the language and behaviour of characters in each one is different/varied. So I was expecting the war boys language e.g. valhalla, shine supreme, guzzling of Fury Road to be throughout but it's not. And if you look at the original Mad Max the post-apocalyptic language and behaviour of the motorbike baddies is different. Miller doesn't stick to any patterns. This is a spin-off so Furiosa's younger character is developed but you then have Pretorian Jack who's stronger than her. And you look at Immortan Joe and his sons and they're not the same as in Fury Road. All of that as well as Dementus was done really well. I'll be looking forward to what Miller thinks up for the next one, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he goes left field again to the previous two because all the Mad Max go in different directions.
