Here's Kenny speaking to the PInk'Un in November 2022: "Ninety percent of players will be away from their family, because usually in this job you move. That's just part and parcel. It is tough. It takes me longer to get to Glasgow than it did to Tampa, so it's a bit of a mission. But it's worth it, because we are at such a good club ........... while you're at this club you're going to get looked after. Obviously you miss your family, but here you feel settled, you feel at home a wee bit. You are well looked after, and your family feels looked after ........ It's a club you want to be at." So, while he misses his wider family, he and his immediate family (wife Brogan and 2 young daughters, yet to reach school age) feel settled here and well looked after. Rangers' player payroll for last season would put them 4th in the Championship in that respect, with Leicester, Southampton and Leeds (i.e. the recipients of 1st year parachute payments), the only sides above them. As it is, we are currently 4th, so they would knock us down one place. Of course, we are trying to cut our wage bill, but Kenny has another year on his current contract, plus the club have an option for a further year, i.e. to June 2026. So he isn't going to be subject to the latest round of cost-cutting measures. Any idea that Rangers would be offering him a vastly better deal than he is currently on is, IMO, almost certainly wide of the mark. I can understand that being a big attraction to younger players (it was mentioned as such when Cantwell moved to Rangers for example), but for a seasoned 32 year-old who already represents his country at international level, I'm sceptical about how much of a draw that would be. But then, I keep being told I've got everything wrong about Kenny, so maybe he will, after all, be off!
Osijek play in the Croatian NL, finishing 4th out of 10 last season. Dinamo Zagreb are the league's perennial champions and the only club well-known to people here (apart from maybe Rijeka, where Drmić resurrected his career after leaving Norwich). I guess it's a step up from Premier League 2 for the Brazilian youngster, but it would be interesting to know whether we didn't rate him, or he didn't rate us.
In the Pinkun now: "The 21-year-old is reportedly in their sights with Brazilian outlet UOL claiming that contact has been made to establish conditions for a potential deal. It adds that the Palmeiras board would consider offers for Vanderlan this summer and would be willing to sell the young full back should an acceptable proposal be made. The defender has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea." He won't come cheap as TransferMarkt list his basic value at €4m. https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...y-transfer-rumour-palmeiras-left-back-linked/
Here are a whole team of arrivals some of you likely haven't heard about yet! https://x.com/NorwichCityAcad/status/1805953473625674044?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
https://x.com/ChrisReevo/status/1806374096374030679 Depending on the role Ruddy wants, and the wages, I wouldn't have minded this necessarily. He'd be an acceptable replacement for Long (although then we'd have to move Long on), or if Ruddy had a coaching/3rd GK role so we could loan out a youngster that would be nice. He's not exactly a ball-playing GK though, if that's what we think Thorup's after.
New rumour for a 22 year old Polish winger: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...y-transfer-rumour-city-make-olaf-kobacki-bid/ The compilation video looks impressive, but then they always do.
I think that's based on Yorkshire papers reports, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. I doubt we'd be looking to sign a relatively expensive winger unless Rowe is on his way out. Wednesday would be more of a risk for the player, given their last gasp escape from relegation last season.
New Youth Development Manager close: "Norwich City are set to name ex-Tottenham Hotspur youth boss Dean Rastrick as their new head of football development. Rastrick, who spent 13 years in North London, ending as academy manager, looks set to succeed Steve Weaver at Carrow Road barring any late hitches. Norwich have gone through a thorough process since Weaver’s departure from the club earlier this summer, ending a seven-year stint in charge of their academy under previous sporting director Stuart Webber. They advertised publicly and attracted a range of candidates but Rastrick has emerged from the process, led by Ben Knapper, as the frontrunner and the person best placed to led the strategy on developing young talent with a renewed focus on getting academy players into Johannes Hoff Thorup’s first team. Rastrick, originally from Suffolk, worked at Norwich as assistant academy manager to Ricky Martin between July 2006 and June 2010 before moving to Spurs, where he remained until vacating his post in June 2023. Prior to his spell at Norwich, Rastrick worked as head of youth development at Derby County and as a youth development officer at Luton Town. City rivalling Luton town for the loan signing of Nottm Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien. He has been told by Forest his future lies elsewhere as they battle with Profit and sustainability regs. Our Suffolk foes were also interested in him this summer and plenty of other championship clubs are thought to be interested in striking a deal for his services
His base value on TransferMarkt is €5m, so he wouldn't come cheap, but if Sara leaves for a good fee it could be possible.
