Switched off half way through. My only take from what I saw was that the election campaign period has been far too long, there was just nothing new.

Realistically there won't be much new, there are no magic beans ...

... although when I hear people saying the likes of Boris Johnson, Farage and Trump give elections 'pizzaz' it's clear someone would buy them.

Running the country is little different to running your own home and just as boring.

It's budgeting, keeping things working and deciding on priorities ...

... things are best when they just trundle along quietly and everybody gets on with their neighbours <laugh>

The biggest worry is that after 14 years of the Tories, several PMs, obvious decline and lack of ideas and momentum in the party and endless scandals, these debates are still coming out as no score draws where Labour should be strolling to wins.

They might win by default but they can't win when there's any kind of argument, by the looks of it.

Sir John Hall, formerly big Tory donor, endorses Reform and Nigel Farage here at Rainton Arena. He tells me that he has been let down by the Tories and has told them to ‘get stuffed’. Says Reform will ‘protect English culture’.
Sir John said that he was not opposed to immigration – but that “English people are white” and he did not “want to see my Englishness and my English culture destroyed.”

They aren't competing to be head of the local debating team.

Sure they will be having high level discussions with leaders and officials from all over the world but that is a totally different scenario when they are surrounded by representatives and advisors.

The TV debates are mostly just for show and in some cases shock value. Mentioned before they are turning into something you would see on Channel 4 and it's usually just a case of who can shout the loudest. You can tell very few of the party leaders enjoy these at all.

I doubt they will have much of an effect, if any at all, on the result.

All I've seen were the clips on Breakfast TV, how anyone could sit through the whole thing is beyond me.

I suspect those who do have already chosen their side and just watch 'their man' winning just like a boxing match.

One thing that did annoy me was Rob, the member of the public, who sneeringly had a go at both politicians.

I thought one of them should've had a go back and told him to show a little respect.

We may not like one or both of these men but they are our current and future Prime Minister ...

... it just seemed to be another example of how things are changing, for the worse imo.

As 'Rob' had a pop at both I'd guess he was a stooge from another party, nasty little man imo.

Sure, are you saying there's no slant in which articles you post?

Hypothetically, if there was a poster on here putting up articles about Labour, let's say "Angela Raynor Tax Crook", "Starmer beergate Durham", "Labour insane £800bn net zero", what conclusion would you come to?

Of course I'm not saying there's no slant, I don't like Farage and am happy to say so as I already have.

I'm entitled to post whatever clips I like, just as anyone else is and does.

There's no smear from me, I didn't even comment on the news story.

John Hall is smearing himself imo, he's talking about English people being white.

Mind you, it didn't stop him employing the likes of black England international Les Ferdinand ...

... although he did make a racist joke about him on live radio.

Can you explain what you mean here?

    edit:

Let's be direct, no need to be coy, let's get to the bottom of this.

Not really mate, I don't think it needs any explanation tbh ...

... if that's not OK with you I'll live with it.

Don't go through the whole song and dance about getting to it, just say what you want to say.

When people say the English are White, they are not saying Polish or Swedish people are English, are they? English is an ethnic group like Han Chinese or Igbo Nigerian. People already know this because (presumably) they're not idiots, but they like to play a little fast and loose.

    Understood.

What are your thoughts on a BAME individual whose family has lived in England for a century calling themselves English?
