We all knew Wilder was a dosser anyway. He’s like the Allahyar of boxing. Good physique and energy but the about as technical as a road cone.
Anthony Joshua will face fellow Briton Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium on 21 September.
Local lad and big City fan, Ted Jackson, makes his professional debut tonight in Liverpool. He’s fighting a Mexican so can expect a battle I’d have thought. In his promo picture his shorts are amber with the city badge on the waistband. I know there’s quite a few going across to watch him, I’d have gone but for a long standing prior engagement. I know Ted and he’s a great lad. I’m, obviously, hoping he wins and comes through the fight safely. Come on Ted!!!!!
He’s on DAZN apparently. Should be fighting around 7 ish and is on the undercard for Rafferty v Jaishankar.
Them Mexicans are always tough lads; I think you're old enough to remember Charlie Magri? For those who weren't, Magri was a brilliant amateur, all action and a two handed puncher, in his first twenty or so pro fights he was out-boxing and knocking over any Brit/European who was put in front of him, he was matched against a Mexican ''road sweeper'' to test him, Magri started like a train and was winning all the early rounds but the guy (can't recall his name) had the obligatory Mexican granite chin and was unmoved - tide turned and Charlie tasted his first defeat by KO, he was always entertaining but he struggled against Latin boxers until his career ended. Good luck to Ted, hope he doesn't need it!
Trying to get confirmation from my lad, who went to the fight, but it looks like he won. He’s sent me some grainy footage which appears to show Ted getting his had raised by the ref.
