Nowhere near, across all “defensive actions” he’s in the 32nd percentile. Aerial duels 30th percentile.
Strange how some on here think he is not up to the standard required, yet every manager snice he's been here have played him, perhaps they all see something more than we do, just saying.
From the outside it looks like Jobe wants to stay here. His family are switched on and know he needs football. Although Palace are one of the teams in the prem who give youth a chance
A sale of Clarke or Jobe nice and early in the window would be nice. Its them going late we don't want.
Again, north of £20m and it gives us the opportunity to go and invest, I'd be wanting a sell on fee too because if he goes and smashes it they could get 3/4 times that fee. I'd like him for another season like.
Love how the o9 debate pops up every couple of months O9 had a good year, both the eye test n data backs that up in my opinion I do feel however, we need to improve at CB - need someone to push both o9 n ballard as i dont think they were challenged enough last season O9 has to improve his marking at set pieces, this is his biggest weakness - gets too tight and starts to grab at players I compared his stats to the boy cooper at millwall - that non nonsense cb that folk want, and o9 wins more defensive duels than him. O9 isnt as bad as folk make out, he def isnt a liability at all and there were plenty of games last season where he was better than Ballard (im one of ballards biggest fans as well)
Fair comment mate. I just think we need better than O9 in defence if we want to challenge top 6. For me, he still plays like a midfielder in defence, getting drawn to the ball when he should be holding his position.
Palace would be a good move for Jobe and wouldnt spite him if we got a decent fee, may also give Rigg a better path way as our no. 10 Id be happy if he stayed tho I also personally think we will make very few signings this summer, the squad is so bloated rather we focused on 2 or 3 top quality signings
Aye, his age and the fact he was made captain. He was the only player over the age of 23 regularly starting. Great player to have in and around the squad but nowhere near good enough to be starting imo. Surely when you want/need to improve you replace your worst players first?
I'm completely baffled by the Jobe stuff. On one hand, he's 18 and just played 40 odd games in the championship in a number of positions, scoring a few goals in the process. He's got a frame to fill, he's got a good head on his shoulders, a lot to learn but his team want him to be playing. 20 million sounds good but he could be worth a lot more in a year (or a bit less). On the other hand, he's been part of an unbalanced side and whilst provided goals, hasn't looked great. We don't know his best position for definite. He's slow and doesn't know how to use his size as well as you'd hope. We could probably lose him and still have enough in reserve with Rigg and Aouchiche, amongst others. 20 million plus a sell on percentage could be a wonderful way of making a quick buck on a lad we signed for about 1.5 mill. And that's where I stand, it's a right predicament. I've just thought too, that selling Jobe AND Clarke in the same window gives us some major firepower.
I like o'nien but for me I agree with prehab we need to upgrade and have another to class centre half alongside Ballard. One thing for sure as well he should never be captain of the club. That should be Neil or Ballard for me.
He's never been club captain whih makes your point invalid straight away, he's nowhere near our worst player, must have a short memory if you don't remember Styles and Hjelde starting for us
