... perhaps because I open my eyes and watch ...

Trippier down the left has been a constant brake on our attacking momentum...

You would lose the width that Saka offers, but can always switch to a back four and introduce players like Saka/Gordon from the bench and give width. Bellingham, Rice and Another in MF and Foden/Kane. Sure he did three at the back in Russia?

They didn't really do that though, as it leaves you too open with Rice playing so far forwards.

Switching the same XI around just ain't going to work ... the substitutes made a real difference last night and surely must have resonated with the manager ...

No one is arguing against that though but playing Saka at left-back because of a throwaway comment from Ian Wright is the sort of thing Football Manager teenagers argue for.

I bow to your better knowledge of the game, and of Arsenal players, than Ian Wright's ... after all, what did he achieve as a player? <laugh>

... and I'm not advocating it because of a throwaway comment ... I'm advocating it because it makes some sense and would definitely give the team a better balance ...

That would mean putting an attacking player with great set piece ability who can also stretch the opposition and get in behind on the pitch.

No way Gareth is having that.

I watched the 2018 WC semi against Croatia with my mate and his kids. His eldest was 9 at the time. At the final whistle I saw how his little 9 year old heart was hurting, and it took me right back to that 1970 QF, when I was 9 myself. Really felt his pain. I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd endured another 50 years of disappointment since, and he probably had that to look forward to himself.

Slovenia are unbeaten in donkeys. Granted, they've mostly been playing Kazakhstan and Armenia, but they beat Portugal 2-0 in March.
