How ****ing hard is it for these privileged idiots not to bet on elections where they clearly have inside information? I honestly despair.
I read somewhere (probably in Private Eye - other magazines highlighting governmental failures, inadequacies and sleaze are available) that Operation Cygnus - the exercise to highlight preparedness for pandemics like, er, Covid, identified the very poor readiness of government agencies, especially in relation to Personal Protection Equipment - PPE. Basically, the government, possibly the Tories, although I'd hate to make this a party political diatribe, ignored the findings of the experts (after all, what do they know?) and ran down the available stocks of PPE, assuming that replacements would be available at the stroke of a pen on a cheque. When the excrement struck the rotating ventilation device, ministers reverted to running around with their hands in the air, and contacted anyone and everyone they could get hold of (like Matt Hancock's mates), to buy stocks at inflated prices. The concept of procurement process, and buying the correct amount of the correct items, for the most favourable price, at the correct time, was ditched in favour of a Klondike-like PPE rush, trying to stake a claim on anything, in the hope that enough simians will produce the correct solution, eventually. I can't see any issues with that.
They also would have had a lot of international support to pressure Turkey, Qatar etc not to provide haven to that leadership, as the international community was rightly horrified at the scale and scope of the Hamas attack. Problem was that it would have been the end of Bibi's political career; of course, most politicians with a shred of decency probably would have fallen on their sword of their own accord, but that's never really been his style.
You can’t bet much more than that on political bets. Point likely is that they are so entitled that they thought there was no risk. They thought they’d get away with it. Look at Partygate. The only actual sanction Johnson and Sunak got were £50 fines. You know anyone else would have got worse. And Rishi probably made that back in the time it took to pay it
Exactly They’re laughing at everyone. They dont take their positions seriously at all. This sums up exactly why I am voting for reform, even as someone that used to hate Farage. I don’t see any other option. I want reform to gain a staggering amount of votes so that the political class are shocked in the same way they were about Brexit
On a different note. I am glad that Assange is close to being free. But I am saddened that the globohomo military industrial complex has got a guilty plea from him. I think this sets a terrible precedent for free speech. War crimes are war crimes. Whether committed by america or anyone else. Journalists should hold governments to account. It’s their whole job & duty. The hypocrisy of western governments angers me massively.
For anyone who isn't familiar with the 'globohomo' nonsense (I truly envy you): https://antisemitism.org.uk/wp-cont...mitism-and-Misogyny-Overlap-and-Interplay.pdf Really lovely stuff.
I agree with most of this; Julian Assange pleading guilty in a US teriroty, for genuine journalism, is wrong and does set a bad precedent - but at least he's free... he'll need to sleep with one eye open now. He, along with Edward Snowden, made a lot more people aware of the double standards the leaders in the West hold. Not sure on the 'Globohomo' bit, however, the industrial military complex is real: "they've got money for war but can't feed the poor". Either way, it's a day I honestly thought wouldn't happen, but I'm so glad it has. Assange opened a door that shows the ugly truth of the industrial military complex that must never be shut. I'm glad he's finally free... There's still some good in this world. On a side note: I rarely agree with anything you post on this politics page, but it's worth speaking out when we agree with each other too, I guess it goes to show the complexities in humanity
Thanks for posting that. I needed to look up the globohomo and uniparty references. The link a useful guide to the absolute bollocks being pumped out by the alt right and racists. At least Alex Jones has got his comeuppance and Infowars will probably be taken down. Unfortunately more similar bile is spawned.
I really don’t understand you. You have been going on about the increase in Muslim immigration into the UK, most of which is legal, but you are now going to support the creature who is largely responsible for it? One of the main reasons for the need to give visas to these people from far afield, often with brown skin (which generally offends Farage supporters), many of whom are Muslims, is because the country NEEDS people to do the jobs that the British people seem to think is beneath them. Most of those jobs used to be done by white, non Muslim Eastern Europeans, but a Farage led Brexit campaign lead to them all leaving the country, creating a big hole that needed filling. You are now supporting the person who has helped create a problem that you are against and you can bet your ass that he is laughing at people like you.
