I see that Ben Gibson is likely to be on his way back to Middlesborough early from his loan spell here. Have to say I've not been that sure about him in some matches. He can be good on a good day but he also can be a wee bit erratic and suspect in the tackle. I know he is young and will learn, well you would hope he will, but right now maybe not the player we need. Not saying he was a bad signing but that perhaps we have better now along the back. Thank you Ben if you are off and good luck in your career.
I agree sensible, he and Nelson never really bonded as we had hoped. It would have been nice to have the extra central defensive option though. I suppose Fletcher, Soukouna or Walton will have to drop back into defence if we have any injuries/suspensions. By the way, how did Berry fare on Saturday?
He was a lot better hobo but to be honest the whole lot were. He did his defending when needed and did his coming forward and it was a decent performance. I think it may be fair to say it was the performance we were promised at pre-season but that has been missing.
Good to hear although from what my Brother says the backline looked stronger with the presence of Purse. Apparently he looked more like the Captain than Walton did. A change needed perhaps?
Purse never stopped talking all game. Encouraging, moving the back line up and down, bollocking whoever when it was called for and patting on the back when required. He doesn't need an armband and it would make no difference to him I think who is called Captain he would be exactly the same. They actually looked like defenders and he is going to prove the signing of the season for us if this keeps up.
