English twat on Var took forever to make the decision and then made the wrong call. Yes the player was offside, but was he interfering with play ? Was he bollocks, the keeper was never getting to it.
He could dive but chose not to. I get why it’s not given but for me it’s another case of VAR ruling out a goal no one should have a problem with.
I'm sorry pal but that's absolute bollocks, the attacker was actually behind him. The keepers legs were far apart when the shot was sylyruck making it impossible for him to dive anyway. Even if he had he wasn't getting near the ball, it should never have been disallowed as all 4 pundits on the TV said afterwards !
Don't agree, the forward was very close to the Keeper and certainly interfering with play. The Norwegian TV "experts" all seemed to think that it wasn't a goal and couldn't understand why they took so long to confirm. One was Åge Hareide, currently Iceland's Manager and has huge experience in the game. He made the valid point that he didn't know if the Keeper would have saved it or not if the forward hadn't been blocking the Keepers access to the shot. It wasn't relevant. Keeper could have been concerned he'd get a card and pen against if he"d launched himself.
This level of analysis and the cretinous delay at the match is exactly why VAR is **** and should be dumped. Just let the ref call it. Of course VAR won’t be dumped because it’s an industry which keeps Icelandic managers employed when they don’t qualify for tournaments.
The powers that be just want the game played like a computer game...... that incident was purely subjective, ref gives goal but defers to var for a 2nd opinion.....var official can't make up his mind as yes player is offside but not interfering with keepers line of sight, so goal should stand..... but wait was he obstructing his dive? Dunno cos keeper didn't dive to try and stop it..... oh heck.... This is where var is a load of bollox.... just stick with on field decision.....
Look quite simply by the rules of Var, the goal should've stood as said here by an ex ref ! It's not hard to understand
