It is reported that Latvian authorities have frozen the assets of Vladimir Antonov following the takeover of Krajbanka. Whilst this news comes as no surprise at all, it may have a huge impact on Portsmouth Football Club. It may be possible that the club will be placed into administration once again (meaning another points deduction) and there is talk of Balram Chainrai once again seizing control of the club should the current owners fail to pay what is owed to him as part of the deal to sell the club in the first place. http://www.portsmouth-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/antonovs_assets_frozen_715471/index.shtml
Hence the question mark at the end But in all seriousness, I really do hope that it is just scaremongering and worst case senario, otherwise we really are in for a rough ride (again).
Agree Jake, by the sound of things, not good news, but let's wait until all is confirmed and in the open before we all start panicking
I'm not sure how the asset-freezing works outside of Latvia/Lithuania, but CSI, who own PFC, is owned by 3 people. What I don't know is if an asset freeze can be implemented worldwide. Another thing I heard is that this could be politically motivated. We won't know anything else now until Dec 16th, so let's just wait and see. Payments to Chanrai by installments sounds as though it's to do with cash-flow - but the last thing we want is him involved again.
This isn't even funny anymore....interesting date though....December 16th, hope you skates get some good news on that day to soften the blow of 2 days later!
Surely after last time Chainrai would want nothing more to do with Pompey? Most normal people wouldn't want to go back to a sinking ship. Excuse the metaphor but Pompey are all over the place at the moment on the seas
I think Chanrai returning could be like the second coming for you guys................it could be for the best.
Surely this cannot happen to you guys again - you have endured more than the rest of the football league put together. As I have said before, the involvement of Eastern Europeans & Asians in foot ball is a worrying tend - corruption, money laundering & mafia operations seem to be the norm where they come from, right up to the heads of state. They think the whole world operates that way. I,m getting negative vibes from you Pompey fans about Michael Appleton too - this does not do much to raise the atmosphere guys. I think you have no choice but to get right behind the man for now. He must be more than a little unsettled at the current picture
Wise words saintsalive - we have to pull together and get behind the manager, team and club like no other time. Incidently, I am currently in SE Asia on business which, I can confirm, is extremely difficult and frustrating. Too many vested interests getting in the way of each other stop anything happening here anytime soon - manyana means indecent haste. So, no, Chanrai's is not something to be longed for in the main but, in this instance, it may be the lesser of two evils.
I'm more worried about the attitude of some toward Appleton than the Antonov situation. I get the impression that a number of Pompey fans fear a "Tony-Adamsesque" short term future as far as results are concerned. The trouble is, if dissent and negative karma like this (and it will if it carries on) grinds its way into the mindset of the playing staff, it is going to be detrimental to Portsmouth Football Club, so I would urge Pompey fans, especially those at the games, to be loud in vocal SUPPORT for the players/management and help create a POSITIVE atmosphere at Fratton Park. As in any profession, a happy workforce is a productive workforce.
