Keeper unable to dive due to player in offside position. It was also given on the field. I agree not enough evidence to overturn decision.
Keeper was unable to dive because of his footwork getting up from the first shot, nothing to do with Dutch player. Should've stood and took far too long.
Once it was given offside on the field it was right for decision to stand. It took too long but VAR right not to intervene. Not clear and obvious error.
It was correct call to disallow. The Dutch player was interfering with the keeper's ability to play the ball by standing where he was. If he had dived for the ball he would have collided with the attacker. Whether he would have got to the ball or not is irrelevant because that's not written in the offside rule.
Yawn. You and people like Stuart atwell are destroying the game. Football is about goals not about looking for reasons to disallow them. Anyone that has ever played football knows the goal should have stood tonight as the keeper was never getting there
Everything about how I watch and enjoy football wants that to be a goal. BUT I do see the point Tom is making. It doesn’t make sense that whether a player is offside depends on a GK’s footwork pre-shot. That would also require VAR to look in far finer detail than anyone would want. I like that the the referee and AR made an on-field decision, and believe in this case VAR would have stuck with it whichever way they went on it. My question is, can a referee self-refer to the monitor? Or only if VAR recommend a review (to overturn)?
Neither me or Attwell wrote the laws of the game. By the wording of the offside law, the correct decision was made. Now whether the law needs amending, that's a different debate. But to say individual referee's are destroying the game is absolute horseshit. Your issue is with IFAB, football's law makers.
If the law is that obvious why did it take him 7 minutes to decide? He deserves massive criticism for that alone. That they then made an absurd decision makes him look even more stupid
I'd suggest that Russ changed the shape so he could play Jack as a 3rd CB and go with 3-4-3 to improve things for us and get everyone in their right positions Southgate doesn't need to do that, he just has to move a couple of players and use one or two who are currently on the bench
Jayden Meghoma is English, and I put it to you, Mr Southgate, that he may well be a better left back than Kieran Trippier.
Where do we all stand on Georgia’s penalty then? I was very surprised VAR saw enough to deem it a clear and obvious error
