but he wasn't asset stripping - the debt had gone to £100 million under Bruce and then we got relegated from the Prem - after that no more major outlays until the debt was back to around £30 mill again which was around the amount when Allams took over - in a smaller way history is repeating itself - owner invests heavily, manager doesn't deliver the goods, owner then has to reorganise finances - Brucie ****ed up getting us relegated after massive spend and then players are sold off - Rosie doesn't get us in the play offs after massive outlay and now players are being sold off

There's a reason I put it in quotation marks. That was the accusation levelled at the time.

Of course. We still have Jones, Slater, Omur and Coyle, who for me, should be nailed on to start after what they showed last season. As well as Philogene and Greaves for now. But the money we could get, would likely do a good job of replacing those.

Then as back ups (who are good enough at this level and probably likely to play a significant role) are Seri, Jacob and McLoughlin.

Then there’s Pandur, who might actually be decent and our number 1 next season!

Let’s see where we are in a month. I reckon things will look much better. Tim Walter hasn’t even started yet. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with getting rid first, to know how much you then have to bring in. <cheers>

As i've said a favourite has gone, BUT, as ever the showman, I have a strong feeling that similar to January Acun and team will have a 'didnt see that coming' signing or two this window.

The problem isn’t with who we have or haven’t got now. It’s more a case of making a cohesive team before the start of the season. That’s the problem, I don’t see how we can challenge for a top 6 place with so much churn. It’s normally stable teams with subtle changes that are successful.

This was always going to happen when we had so many loan players who, regardless of wishful thinking, weren’t going to return next season. Add into that selling 1,2 or 3 of our best contracted players, burning our bridges with our No. 1 keeper and we are not left with a lot.

Hopefully some inspirational signings await but it’s a hell of a lot for a new, inexperienced manager to be faced with.

I agree Ernie. I think we’ll be very close to getting out of the division, but not in the direction that Acun is expecting.

I assume if West Ham are after Kilman for 25 million or so they won’t want Greaves?

We were told Greaves' sale was just about done a while ago, so I'm sure it'll happen any day now..!

No one will know all the details
    Maybe Tufan wanted to go
    Who knows
It’s definitely a good contract for him
    Most would take that
He might have a clause in his contract if a Turkish club comes in he can speak to them
He might be due a pay rise with us in his third year ?
Club and him have agreed and he’s on his way
    The end

I can understand the low fee if it works more in our favour to get his wages off the books.

Regarding the squad - it’s absolutely paper thin - even in positions we have solid players. In positions where people think we have a good enough starter - is there a player in reserve who we think/know is a decent back up? GK maybe if Pandur is good.

At the moment we need to sign a player in every single position on the pitch - many multiple. Omur and Tufan were probably the only two players in one position where we know both were good enough.

I understand that perspective and motivation if it's a player we're actively looking to shift, like Ally or Sinik, but Tufan was a big contributor. If he wants to go and Trabs want him they should have to meet our valuation, we shouldn't be offering him at a cut price.

Buying Allahyar for £4 million and selling him for £2 million. Another Acun transfer masterclass.

I get this. But I do think there is a difference between wanting him out or being open to the possibility as it would help us elsewhere. Either scenario would probably warrant a bit of a lower fee.

I think its too low personally - but as I always say with transfers - we should look to see what business is done to replace before we decide if it’s a bad deal. For example - if Omur was signed as the replacement this summer on the same finances as now - then the swap would have been worth it

    Some transfers work really well.

    Some don’t.

Then there’s the in between and extremes.

Success in the transfer market is not an exact science in real life; no matter how ace you are on Football Manager.

Bottom line: the owner has invested in the club and the fans. He has restored hope. Thus, essentially, he has earned the right to make these mistakes.

Without this investment, I despair to think what state the club would be in.

True but that doesn’t mean we don’t have the right to voice concern about a possible bad deal or concern about the squad next season.
