Very solid first 10 overs. But thereafter, the bowling was awful again - and the fielding was too. I would suggest that this is way out of our reach.
Agreed. Neser's 4th over should have gone to Benny, which in turn would have left us with more options at the end. But by bowling Neser out early - and seemingly forgetting that Benny existed - Vince got himself into a corner when he was forced to turn back to Fuller.
Sussex's bowling attack is better than Kent's, and we needed a miracle finish just to chase down 166 against them.
Ollie Price's brilliant (and unexpected) cameo for Gloucs is the only why the top four aren't clear and away. I suspect we'll need to win 6 out of 6. Can't see it.
Please Hampshire, my only chance of seeing my home in person is Hampshire making the quarter finals and drawing a Northern side away
Absolutely freezing there last eve, Made the mistake of thinking it was mid June & afternoon sun totally screwed me. Couldn’t believe Hants were in with shout at the end & even snuck in front of Sussex equivalent runs in 18 & 19 ovs but their 18 off the last three balls was bridge to far. Vince & Weatherly making 50+ & another 5 in the hutch. Pretty poor show but still great entertainment.
I've just been doing some maths, and I believe that our realistic required margin of victory tomorrow will be between 9 and 11 runs (if batting first). (It's not possible to know the exact target without SA having yet played.) Even if you take it deep into the realms of make-believe (where we win with a tiny score and SA lose with a massive score), our required margin of victory only really increases to about 15 runs. This is the margin of victory required which would mean that SA's NRR would then drop below ours if they were to lose to WI on Monday, regardless of what size of defeat they suffer (eg even a tie with a loss in a super over).
Afghanistan looked really good this morning beating Australia. Some great bowling and fielding. Australia vs India could be interesting tomorrow.
H 46 -1 16 overs. slow going. H 104 - 1 30 overs / lunch H 148 - 4 Vince out 9 H 213 - 6 57 overs H 238 - 6 Tea
I see that we're one of very few teams who have been able to field two overseas players in this round of matches. Most sides are fielding one, and some have none. I guess that's the consequence of having this week and next week falling in the middle of the t20 season.
