Basically, they're notes that are normally played really, really quietly...you almost can't notice them until you hear the same piece played with and without them. They fill the space between the really distinct loud notes. In drumming they're generally played on the snare drum. It's all flourish and finishing touches ...but as I say, once you know they're there you can't unhear them and you need to be a good player to pull em off properly.
Listened to it a few times through headphones and get what you mean now, much more going on than what I first thought. Something else I noticed through headphones....John Paul Jones bass is immense. My lugs aren't the best, so i lose a lot of frequencies, headphones seem to give me them back.....even sold my hi-fi speakers because of it.
Love this tune. Our lass walked down the aisle to it. 6 years anniversary in July, 11 years together in total. Far from plain sailing but I wouldn't swap any of it, for anything. The music is perfection, everyone has heard it before, been on numerous adverts. The video is what really makes it though, every time I think I'm getting old (regularly) I try and remember this video...jumping in puddles until the end, fingers crossed!
I don't recognise the music, but what a video that is. Happier, simpler times....kids today really don't know what they are missing out on. Pleased you posted that, just what I needed.
