If this news that Tufan is leaving is correct, it looks as if a new rebuild is taking place. TW may well have plans on what players he wants to bring in, and agreeing for Tufan to go shows signs that he is already shaping things. Knowing Tan as we do, I am sure a lot is going on behind the scenes, and expect some interesting developments coming.
I would think Walter will want to bring in quite a few players he’s already worked with and knows It’ll make the job easier for him If he signs some **** from Peru I’ll be very worried
I’ve followed the great Some **** since he first broke through in Peru and I think he’d be a good signing
Baz confirmed it’s all done. City and Tranzonspor agreed a fee. Can’t lie, I have an uneasy feeling about this. I think it speaks to a wider problem regarding the club’s recruitment. That’s another significant player in Acun’s first summer window that has gone along with Sayyadmanesh, Tetteh and Estupiñán. Sinik has been a terrible signing. If Seri goes, which he might, that’s all of the major signings from 2022 gone. Acun can whinge all he wants about FFP. When he bought the club, we had significant headroom due to the Allams’ lack of investment in the squad. He’s squandered most of it. Massive rebuild this summer has just gotten bigger. Even if you don’t rate Tufan, he scored 10 goals last season and 8 the season before that which is a good return for a midfielder at this level.
On paper I think €2m is low for a midfielder who scored 10 goals last season, but he is 29 and it’s a good deal for him personally at this stage of his career. I really like Tufan and big fan of how he improved himself during his time here.
Selling players pre 30th June means we’ll have transfer income during this financial year, not a chance we’ll sign anyone until at least 1st July.
I'm taking the hopeful stance that its part of the process of rectifying these problems. I guess we will soon see.
Add to the list that we've unexpectedly sold one of our better players. It's gonna take more that possibly signing Ohio to fix this.
That leaves us with just about 8 players who are good enough to be starting and two of those will probably leave. The rest are deadwood and fringe players who’ve been on loan. Pre-season training starts in just over a week. Really piss-poor planning.
I think these are collective decisions so not all on Acun. Undoubtedly there have been mistakes made with the transfer policy, most notably in the first window under Acun but I do think lessons have been learned and this is just a case of a sale making sense. Its not all bad either, the deal for Philogene alone is ridiculous business really and it looks like Omur was a very shrewd signing.
How much would you actually pay for Tufan if he belonged to another club and had 3/4 years on his contract? Although I like him, personally, I wouldn't sign him at all but if I was attempting to be fair maybe 3.5m? so 2m euros for a player that wants to go, has struggled at times with consistency and is in and out of the team makes sense to me.
