Well, you don't like him...ok .I don't know him,so can't say. Do you really think he doesn't want to be in the mix for promotion?

Those with good pattern recognition will be able to glean from this.

Club success outweighs individual success always. Hiring clubs know that, pretty sure Speakman will know it too, he might be a ****er but he doesn't seem like a fool.

Thanks for this. Havent read the full thing yet, but some points Ive thought so far. Think ive been a bit harsh in earlier posts about his relegation, even though its not ideal, didnt realise Lorient were a bit of a yoyo team and had finished 16th in both seasons before he came in.

Another point, possibly interestingly for us, is that Lorient struggled to score (lowest scorers 8th worst xg) in the season before he joined before he had them 3rd for goals scored and 8th for xg at the time of that article. Where have we struggled on the pitch recently? Scoring goals. Fingers crossed this works out

This is the second time I've seen a graph like that and both times suggest to me success correlates with passes per sequence, it seems speed is a bit less important and perhaps more to do with the players you have available to you. Really interesting stuff.

I suppose my lack of knowledge with coaches and footballers not with SAFC is a help here as there are a number of "experts" on here already writing him off

So little experience then? Also the interview with a Lorient fan on ALS he says his biggest worry about him is the lack of experience...

    Big gamble

Why don't you like him? I've listened to every podcast and interview he's ever done and he seems alright. I would never say 'I don't like him' based on that. Noone is telling me that KLD wasn't behind this appointment more than Speakman and also the signings of anouche, ba, pembele etc so you wonder what influence he has

They're all a big gamble, Moyes had more experience than most PL managers and failed at Sunderland ...

... Crosby had absolutely none and almost won us the FA Cup.

If you haven't noticed, there has been no consensus on who should be appointed. For me Heckingbottom and Still were at the top of the list, for others Maric, for others Cifuentes or Rosenior. There has been no consensus, all choices please some and not others.

I'm sure no one would have chosen someone who's just got a team relegated. Only Sunderland.

We know it's a gamble, but try to entertain the idea that it's a gamble which may come off! Name anyone who's guaranteed.

can we just move on now

yes it was annoying as hell its taken 4 months but it is what it is, we have the coach players to come.
time now to back mr cheeseman with everything we can,
its not his fault its taken this long.

its not going to please everyone but neither did Mowbray, in fact his name was getting the same sort of resistance and negativity. and now people treat him like he was a god.

until it happens no one knows how well we can do.

    let bygones be bygones

As has been said previously, its more important to consider how a new coach will fit into our set up than to worry about previous titles or relegations on their CV.
