Reid was wanted out early 97/98 after we lost 4-0 to Reading, he changed the team after that and the rest is history
Had my complaints yesterday about Le Bris but I am excited to see how he adapts to our squad. I would like him to try and control games more here than he did at Lorient, even in his good season they allowed the opposition a lot of the ball which I just don't think suits how our squad should play. From my point of view though he's a better stylistic fit than Still would've been. And at least he's not Robinson It is all about player recruitment though. Don't have to splash the cash but just be a bit smarter.
I meant they could have gone for an option that seemed 'safer', like Championship experience. Of course we can never tell how its going to go, many poo pooed Mowbray and he was brilliant.
The only thing we can do as fans is give him a fair go at it If he's ****e he will be told as beale did Majority didn't fancy Alex Neil or Tony Mowbray let's hope this fella goes one better than them, need to back him with the staff and players or he's on to loser straight off
Good tweet. Like I say, it’s not RLB’s fault. The fact it took so long meant expectation was elevated, and I think it’s fine that people have reservations. He will have everyone’s support once he’s in, I’m sure. Need a very good summer though.
Nope, for some reason everyone is taking a tweet, from a random twitter journo, saying he's in talks as cast iron evidence that he's signed.
Not yet mate we are waiting for the thread to get to 1440 so I can win the sweepstake mate. Come on lads keep posting
Superstar perfect coaches aren’t coming into the championship, it’s always someone after a blip or on their way up, I’m easy won round to be fair but I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes now
My favourite example of this at the minute is Xabi Alonso. Relegated from the 2nd division in Spain, leaves the role and then gets the Leverkusen job as his next role. That's went pretty well for them hasn't it? Win percentages and league positions mean zero because the situation is completely different from club to club.
not to add fuel to a fire, boro's assistant is set to join Bayen... as Kompany's no2....... soooooooo
I was after 3 things from this appointment. 1) someone from abroad (wanted some different ideas brought into the squad rather than keeping with the sacked British merry-go-round). 2) someone coming on an upward trajectory from their previous job. 3) someone that doesnt have baggage from previous jobs (this less important, more than likely most manages will have failed at one point). This bloke is coming off a relegation last season, so disappointed we're going with someone who's coming off a pretty heavy failure (I dont know the circumstances but a relegation is a relegation and reported they had a top half level budget in France). I also think its a bit underwhelming considering we wrote off a third of a season and had 4 months to identify candidates. I think its unlikely Speakman will come back from the past 12 months but hopefully he can prove me wrong this summer especially. Now this is just my initial reaction and with all that said, I'm delighted this looks to be coming to an end. Le Bris is something different to what we usually go far, you'd think hed be a better fit for the french lads who still have language barriers and by all accounts had a fantastic season only a couple of years ago. As always, has my total full support and hopefully will bring some hidden gems hes familiar with from abroad too. Is this actually the end lads?
I wonder if he will bring his own no.2 with him.. If its him let's get behind him and support him.. just not sure people will accept dodds as his no2 though. Anyway if it's him welcome.
He had a 40% win ratio with Real Sociadad B, he got the job at Leverkusen off his reputation as a player I'm sure. If anything this demonstrates the complete and utter unpredictability of football. You can be licking sh!t off a boot for El Burro Viejo FC one minute and lifting the Champion League trophy with Real Madrid the next.
