Yes, it does. The seasons governed their lives and so an interest in solar alignments is completely understandable. Its also quite easily identifiable at places like Newgrange and Maes Howe. When you have to force it to see it, I think you have to conclude that there might be something else going on. In the case of the roundhouses, it just became obvious that practical concerns was a more compelling argument.
At times. But they averaged 45% possession throughout the season so they clearly weren't doing it often. You bait the press much more effectively if you have the ball more. Look at the numbers, he's just not what this squad needs.
Sorry to derail the thread further but can you tell me more about New Grange/Maes Howe. Specifically interested in solar/lunar worship/interaction at the moment.
I think it's borne from a hope that our next head coach will be found sitting cross-legged in a corner of the SoL,with the sun aligned on his frontal lobe, whilst mapping out some kind of winning, circular playing formation aligned with the stars, using swirling empty crisp packets and paper containers.
Had a bit of a browse when his name first came up. Not overly impressed his tactics Worked for half a season hence being linked to big clubs then found out massively has predominantly been an academy / b team coach developing young players so can see why they would look at him But having seen his tactics implode last season would be a huge risk. Could be a French Dodds so not for me
Newgrange is a Neolithic passage tomb in Ireland. The passage aligns with the sun on the winter solstice, lighting it up. Various theories exist but it's possible that it's got something to do with new life/regeneration. Maes Howe is of similar date but its a chambered cairn/tomb. It is also aligned with the winter solstice and the same thing happens. It's on mainland Orkney. Its part of a wider complex of Neolithic monumental structures in that part of Orkney.
