Acun may have said that he will let a manager pick his team as the season is on but his actions clearly indicate he’s willing to sack him if he doesn’t agree with the team selection. Like Sinik and how he keeps banging on about him
When he’s making a speech about who will be No1, kind of sounds to me, like he wants to have his say. Like I’ve said before, Acun needs to learn how to say things, instead of just saying things when it pops in his head & he translates it into English, thinking that’s what the fans want to hear.
Interesting you mention that because I find it odd that Acun was so insistent that Rosie play Pandur, but didn't seem to mind that Sinik has spent the last two seasons out on loan when he was so excited about signing him.
wonder if we will end up signing Ryan giles or not ,baz Cooper said the other week that they were some technical details to sort out
If it was going to get done, you'd imagine it would have been by now. It's gone very quiet and it seems like he'd rather go Boro. I can't see Walter agreeing to sign him either as it's a massive chunk of our budget when we need to prioritise attackers.
Considering there's an agreement on the fee and at least a verbal one on wages, there's not much to slow it down unless any of the parties aren't too keen (which certainly seems that way). After his loan spell, there's no way I'd be paying £4m even if we wanted to keep him, his value has dropped (probably a fair bit) in the last few months. At £2m for example, it's probably a solid signing.
I think we need upgrades both at leftback and rightback this summer. I dont think Jacob or Coyle are good enough to start for a team aiming for top 6. Happy to have them in the squad but have thought for a while now we're weak in both positions. Vinagre at the start of the season was odd, didnt we have a £14m buy out clause on him? That didnt work out.. then it was Giles in the January window with a £4m buy out... also seems like thats not going to work out.. we cant seem to get it quite right can we? Hopefully this summer we can finally fix a few positions like fullback, striker and cdm.
Signing someone on a loan with an obligation is really just an FFP workaround, or potentially to help cash flow. But it's effectively a permanent transfer which is why the full discussion on it was nonsense. Everything would've been completed & signed in January and we'd have been told how long his contract was for etc then too. You can't have an obligation where the player hasn't signed a contract and can decide if he wants to move in the summer, as that's not an obligation (FIFA wouldn't ratify it), it's an option. It would also make it completely pointless for the two clubs to enter into an obligation when the player can turn around and not fancy it anyway. The only winners would be the lawyers drafting the contracts and they're not cheap at the best of times. Options are really sensible, but the selling club will usually put a high buy-out clause to protect themselves against the player having a major upturn in form and his value increasing. That £4m was always pricey for a full back who struggles defensively but it doesn't mean we can't negotiate a lower fee.
My guess he that Sinik was genuinely hurt hence the lack of mentioning. If he was fit and not selected I dread to think what Acun would have said. He hinted at the fact he only brought him on when 3-0 down to Ipswich as opposed to giving him serious game time
Acun said the max he can put into our budget from his own money this season coming is £14 million and that’s to cover transfer fees, wages, agent fees etc. That’s before any player sales.
Clearly that would change things but the buy out clause for Giles will have a time limit on it within the contract, so it's if we want to do it before any player sales.
everytime i look at our current squad, i think yikes its utter gash how have we got into this position? obviously we will recruit, but teams dont just usually click fast
Over a 3 year contract it would amortised so wouldn't be horrid. But it's evident the club is prepping the fan base to soften the eventual blow of losing Greaves and/or Jaden. Makes the whole spiel of "I'll never sell for money" a bit more baffling now our backs are against the alleged financial wall
