Didn’t he have a bet against the pound ? Or was it helping his hedge fund manager mates to make ££££ on a tanking pound. Good old Nige putting the country first lol
there were no winners, unless you wanted to short the £ on the markets for yourself/others gains. but that’s just my opinion on the reason for it and how it has helped ‘take back control’
It is THE MAIN precious metal needed for electric car batteries, it is very rare and when it runs out use will have to return to petrol vehicles or horses
I got no problem from a trading perspective and I also think it's good to get on with our neighbours. I do have conerns with a Federal Union, I do have concerns with a central operation called Brussels, and I have concerns with a trading market that feels more like a monopoly power. But if people want to be sensible and have reasonable conversations then I'm all for it. The Lib Dems last time round handled it badly, Keir is keeping quiet in the main, and maybe that is the best way - the Tories just cause bad feeling. Hopefully Keir can rise to the occassion and get respect in Europe, that runs more with co-operation than conditions and never again should we join something where it takes us a lifetime to get a say, as was the case.
Watching Rory Stewart. He’s a good guy. He’s also saying people need to start taking Farage seriously because there’s a boom for him and it’s escalating every day. Apparently about half of reform voters wouldn’t have even considered them until Farage went there. He’s also making a point about how the right wing are rising in Italy, Germany and France. He was speaking to Italians who are now genuinely scared they’re seeing a return to fascism and because of the way it’s going through Europe it’s only a matter of time before it hits our shores.
Another commie and antisemite hidden in the ranks. Get rid of him, Keir. Labour has suspended one of its candidates after reports he shared "pro-Russian" material online. Andy Brown, who is standing in Aberdeen North and Moray East, also shared a post that appeared to downplay allegations of antisemitism against Labour, as first reported by the Press and Journal. A Labour spokesperson said he had been suspended pending an investigation. Weeks after the Salisbury poisonings Mr Brown shared an article on social media in April 2018 from the Russian state media outlet RT. It claimed the "toxin" used in the Salisbury poisonings was "never produced in Russia, but was in service in the US, UK, and other NATO states".
Yeah I think there has to be that sensible approach to trading in the future. The EU is our biggest trading bloc and currently we're not making the most of it. Whatever you feel about Brexit, we didn't really negotiate very favourable conditions for ourselves, but maybe that was a result of just 'getting it done' and probably an element of the EU wanting to show that you won't get better conditions being outside of the union. You'd hope that a future Govt would make inroads into renegotiating some of those deals, that are mutually beneficial. And hopefully now that some of the dust has settled and the agitators during Brexit have now moved on, that it can be a fresh slate to work on. I think Starmer is probably best not saying a lot about it during an election campaign as it will just be used as fodder to bash him with. Hopefully he can do the meaningful work once (if) he gets into office.
I agree with this. Farage is a nob, but I don't underestimate his appeal. The scaremongering tactics of fascists is also something that can gain a lot of traction. We've seen it before in Europe and shouldn't dismiss how it can grow again now.
Noticed the last two days an increase in reporting on migrants by SKY News, clearly with two weeks to the elections, we can see which direction they've been told to go - expecting them to employ Farage soon as a politcal commentator.
2% inflation target hit. OBR forecasts are showing big growth for the UK on the back of how Hunt and Sunak have turned it around. Labour are being handed an economy on the rise and doing pretty damn good compared to the rest of Europe. You wouldn’t think it on here. The excuses of ‘it will take the Labour government at least 5 years to sort the economy’ won’t wash now.
